Page 10 TESTVÉRISÉG FROM THE SECRETARY’S DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS of BOARD RESOLUTIONS MEETING HELD in WASHINGTON, D.C. • APRIL 24-28, 1995 It was resolved that: • Attempts should be made to find, assign and/or designate an agent or finder at every Hungarian church. • A promotional/advertising campaign should be started to promote the 100th anniversary of the HRFA. • The top three producers over the last five years should receive special recognition at the Convention with a gift for their loyalty and service over the years to the Federation. • Branch managers and others within branches should be trained on how to create and run fraternal activities. Those who have had successful events could be used as instructors for this undertaking. • Each branch should have at least one youth activity per year, such as an outing, a pizza party or a Christmas party during the year for its younger members. • A limit should be set on donation requests made to the Federation. If at all possible, these requests should be priorities as to their importance and significance to the work of the Federation. • Each director is encouraged to write an article for the Fraternity at least once a year. Some topics might be assigned, where appropriate, such as religious meditations for the holidays. • The maximum amount of residential mortgage be increased from $100,000 to $125,000 effective May 1, 1995. • A committee for insurance products will be created. • That in order to foster our fraternal activities, permission is granted to organize a Kossuth Club in South Bend, Indiana. • That membership in the AMOSZ and AMSZ and Coalition not be considered unless the merger takes place. • The anniversary and convention contest be implemented from July 1, 1995 to July 1, 1996 with proper compensation to branch managers/agents. At the same time, a quota be setup for each district, strictly pertaining to membership gain. The rules of the contest are as follows: • For every 50 new members one (1) round trip air fare ticket to Hungary. • For every 30 new members or $3,000 premium income, a monetary bonus of $400. • For every 20 new members or $2,000 premium income, a monetary bonus of $250. • For every 10 new members or $1,000 premium income, a monetary bonus of $100. Excluded from this contest are all professional agents and juvenile term to age 25 policies. • That directors be assigned branches to supervise fraternal activities, especially in view of the preparation for the 100th anniversary of the Federation. • The Board ratify the titles and writers of the 100th Anniversary Book. • That the Board exercise financial restraint in all matters in the fiscal year 1995. • Donations were approved as follows: • Tractor for Transylvania, money to be raised through fraternal activities. $2,250 will be matched by the Federation. • Protest Foundation, Budapest, Hungary: $1,000. • Bishop Csia’s book: 50 books at $10 each for resale. • American Hungarian Foundation, New Brunswick, NJ: $2,000. • Calvin Synod Youth Camp: $2,000. • Hungarian Reformed Church in America Youth Camp: $2,000. • The Bethlen Home, Ligonier, PA: $24,000. • Workshop participants (only HRFA members) Northwestern University, Ada, Ohio to receive $75 toward expenses. The Fall Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bethlen Home and the HRFA will be held in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, September 6-8, 1995. Endre Csornán, Secretary
