Page 4 TESTVÉRISÉG 1 At its 1995-Spring Meeting, the Board of Directors of the HRFA resolved to issue the following PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, in the year of our Lord 1896, our Hungarian American forefathers joined together to form a society to address the spiritual, fraternal, cultural, and financial needs of the Hungarian American Community; and WHEREAS, this society, known as the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, has from its birth been integrally intertwined and interrelated with the Hungarian Reformed Church community; and WHEREAS, our Lord commands us to bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ (Gal. 6:2) and our Lord said: “the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve” (Mt. 20:28), and our Hungarian Reformed Federation and the churches have heeded His command cooperatively and in harmony with each other; and WHEREAS, during the course of its existence, the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America has grown to include Hungarian-Americans of all denominations among its members, and while always remaining true to the Hungarian Reformed ideals of our founding fathers, has extended its outreach and services in a Christian ecumenical manner with spiritual, fraternal, and financial contributions; and WHEREAS, during the 1994 calendar year, the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America has continued its long history of charitable support to the Hungarian American churches and community, including but not limited to the Bethlen Home in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, the youth camps of the Calvin Synod and the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, and the activities of congregations in California, Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania; and WHEREAS, the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America recognizes the continuing need and value of a strong, brotherly, and cooperative relationship between the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and the Hungarian American Christian community, for the preservation of our shared past, the continued vitality of our present, and the fulfillment of our glorious future for the mutual interdependent benefit of all concerned; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that, as the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America approaches the celebration of its Centennial Year, this open invitation be, and is hereby, extended to all members and organizations within the Hungarian-American Christian community, as well as in the world’s Hungarian Christian community, to join with us in the celebration by establishing and partaking of joint spiritual, fraternal, and cultural activities, so as to remember our grand history, rekindle the flame of brotherhood among us, and to strive towards the attainment of our mutual goals for our generation and those to come. “If God be for us, who can be against us?”
