His faithful ministry of 37 years in our Hungarian Reformed Community was exemplary and to the blessing of many. He studied at the Budapest Theological Seminary. For one year he was a student of Lancaster Theological Seminary. Upon completion of his studies, he was pastor of the Morgantown Uniontown Church for two years. For five years, he was a librarian in Buffalo and served faithfully the small First Hungarian Reformed Church of Buffalo. Since 1973, he was the pastor of Calvin Presbyterian Church of Brownsville, PA. His pastorate in Brownsville was a blessed one. He was an important leading personality of the community. His religious column in the local newspaper was read by thousands of the community. The Federation Convention of 1992 elected Rev. Jalso as a director of Pennsylvania. His wife, Iren Szabó, is a surgical nurse. They have two sons, Alexander and Albert, both having Master’s Degrees. Rev. Jalso has always been a faithful pastor, a dedicated branch manager and a good member of the Board of Directors of the Federation. Sándor, our best wishes for an enjoyable retirement. You and Iren deserve the best. Endre Csornán, Secretary BRANCH 134 - GR. PITTSBURGH, PA Branch President Marion Nagy opened the meeting of our Branch on February 14, 1995 at 7:30 P.M. Prayer was given by Branch Manager Olga Darnay, who welcomed everyone. Minutes of the previous meeting and Treasurer’s report were read and approved. It was reported that craft tables were set up in the church hall to sell new items every week. The proceeds from these sales were donated to the Student Aid Fund ($250) and the Duquesne Church ($20). Shut-in members of the branch were visited on a regular basis, and Mrs. Olga Darnay had regularly taken several older members shopping and to grocery stores. Our annual picnics were very successful, and we thank our many volunteers for their kind efforts. Mrs. Olga Darnay reported that seven members of the branch attended the picnic in Ligonier, and six members attended a meeting of the Calvin Synod at Scenic View, where the delicious luncheon was prepared by Mr. Csornán. Since one of our projects for 1995 is to raise money for the Scholarship Fund, we decided to have a take-out dinner on March 10, 1995 from 12 to 7 P.M. Our palacsintás came in four flavors - we had apricot, plum, strawberry and rasberry. We had a wonderful time with both young and old working together, learning how to make Hungarian dishes. It was the older women handing down their methods of preparing food to the younger ones, thus making sure that their recipes will live on for generations to come. This was our first project of the year for the scholarship fund. Officers elected for 1995 are: Marion Nagy, President; William Nagy, Vice President; Mrs. Olga Darnay, Treasurer; Julia Nagy, Secretary. We wish to thank Mr. John Palagy for donating the stuffed animal prizes to the children of our branch at one of our previous meetings. His gift made the children very happy.
