Saltier represententing the HRFA at ‘ 'Sajtó Nap ’ ’ in Los Angeles, CA BRANCH 378 - SAN FRANCISCO, CA In April of this year I had the opportunity to visit Mr. Sándor Papp, member of Branch 378, who is a very interesting and talented 80-year old gentleman. He is very well-known for constructing and decorating footstools with Hungarian motifs, and for painting beautiful Easter eggs. In fact, the HRFA purchased one of Mr. Papp’s footstools, which was a desireable raffle prize at the “Sajtó Nap” held on August 7, 1994 in Los Angeles, California. Mrs. Irene Black with her Hungarian dolls and Mrs. Magda Papp, HRFA member visiting from Calgary, Canada Also in April, I visited the “matriarch” of the San Francisco Church, almost 99 year-old Mrs. Irene Black, who is a rare jewel! At her age, she still attends church regularly, donates generously, is mentally very alert and aware, and is still winning prizes at various fairs for her Hungarian dolls. She designs and sews very detailed, authentic costumes for these dolls, and through the years she has been awarded many 1st prize ribbons. May God bless Mrs. Black with continued good health.
