FRATERNITY Page 23 We thank our Directors, Branch Managers and Agents for their assistance in helping our gifted young members become aware of one of the benefits of our Society - the Elizabeth Ecsy Elizabeth Ecsy, Member of Br. 176: “I would like to thank you all at the HRFA for considering me for your generous student aid gift. The aid will be used toward my undergraduate degree at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. I would also like to thank Mr. Julius Simon, the Chicago Area Manager, for recommending me. I am a graduate of Highland High School in Highland, Indiana. While at Highland High, I was a member of Student Government, Theater, Yearbook and Newspaper staffs, and Honor Choir. I was also involved in Key Club (affiliated with Kiwianis Organization), National Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. I received the Presidential Academic Fitness Award during my senior year along with the Principal’s Leadership Award. Singing has always been very important to me. So I was involved in many choirs in my high school as well as the church choir at Holy Trinity Hungarian Church in East Chicago, Indiana. I also had the great honor of being Student Aid grant. We would like to share with our readers letters we received from some of the recipients of this aid. in the Indiana All State Honors Choir in the spring of my senior year. I continued my interest in singing when I came to Butler University by taking voice lessons and being in several choirs. At Butler I am a member of the sorority Delta Delta Delta. This organization involves me in activities ranging from volunteer work for our philanthropy, Riley Cancer Research for Children, to carrying through with my interest in singing while maintaining high academic standards. My goal is to graduate with a degree in Speech Pathology, and move on to graduate school. One day I hope to work as a Speech Therapist in an elementary school or clinic. I’m very excited about my major, and I can’t wait until I can get out into my field of work. I have been proud to be a member of the HRFA since I joined, and everyone in my family is also a member. I am thankful for this opportunity of the student aid, and once again I would like to thank you for your consideration.” Julie E. Hazlett Julie E. Hazlett, Member of Br. 67: “Of the qualities needed for success in this world, a proud heritage and a fierce determination to lead and prevail are among the most prevalent. Along with those attributes, success is much easier achieved when parental and financial support, and a strong base in religion accompany them. I feel I possess these qualities, indeed, and will fulfill the HRFA’s expectations of me. Throughout my high school years, I was continually on the honor roll, which recognizes students with a 3.0 higher grade point average. I was a cheerleader in grades nine through eleven, a member of the French Club in grades nine through twelve, and inducted into the French National Honor Society in grade eleven. I was also a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students in both the eleventh and twelfth grades. I excelled in such courses as Advanced Biology, in the eleventh grade, and Advanced Placement English, in the twelfth grade.
