FRATERNITY Page 23 Az Eszenyi Házaspár Magyar Kitüntetése A Magyar Köztáraság Elnöke Eszenyi Lászlónak, az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyesület nyugalmazott ügyvezető alelnökének "a magyarság érdekében, az amerikai magyarság körében kifejtett áldozatkész munkássága elismeréséül" a Magyar Köztársasági Érdemrend Tisztikeresztjét nyújtotta át a parlament Nándorfehérvár termében. Ugyanakkor felkérte, hogy az Érdemrend Kiskeresztjét vigye el feleségének "több évtizedes, Magyarország érdekében kifejtett oktató és ismeretterjesztő tevékenysége elismeréséül." This honor was bestowed upon him for his long and dedicated services in behalf of the Hungarian community in the United States. The President of the Republic of Hungary, the Hon. Árpád Göncz, who presented him with this Award, also honored László’s wife, Eva, with a Merit Award for her many years of invaluable services rendered as instructor of the Hungarian language and promoter of the Hungarian culture. George Dózsa, President OBITUARY Daniel Bodor, 99, Pastor Emeritus The Rev. Daniel G. Bodor, 99, pastor emeritus of the Lorain Hungarian Reformed Church, died January 19, 1993 in St. Petersburg, Fla., after a lengthy illness. Reverend Bodor was bom in Hungary and came to the United States at age 16. He continued his education in Chicago and attended Dubuque College, Dubuque, Iowa, from 1915-1919. He came to Cleveland and accepted a position with the First Hungarian Reformed Church as director of Christian education. While in Cleveland, he studied law and received his degree. In 1923, he decided to enter the Christian ministry. He studied theology at McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, where he earned his degree. He was ordained by the Logansport Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church. He was pastor of the Lorain Hungarian Reformed Church from Nov. 1, 1935 to May 30, 1953. He was pastor of the church for the longest tenure, 18 years, and had been pastor emeritus for many years at the time of his death. Survivors include his two children, Lillian and Daniel; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, in 1986. Both Reverend Bodor and his wife, Rose, were members of Branch 31 of the Federation for many years. Emma Aros, Branch Manager.
