Page 20 TESTVÉRISÉG organizations. I have also served on various boards and organizations in the University as the student representative. These include the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Hanley Library (the University Library), and the Planning and Budget Committee for the University. Most recently, I was given the honor of chairing a student committee to revise our college’s mission statement. While at home in Hamburg, I have furthered my interest in law by interning at the law firm of Gaughan & Wiencek. Outside of attending St. Elizabeth’s church, I enjoy being involved in our local Hungarian Community by attending dinners, performances, celebrations, and various youth activities. Here in Bradford, I also try to be involved in Hungarian events: most recently, I was asked to function as an interpreter for the local Creative and Performing Arts Council when they hosted the Hungarian National Chamber Orchestra in Bradford in March of this year. The invitation was a great honor, and I feel very proud that I was able to help and support the promulgation of Hungarian culture and heritage. I hope this biographical sketch helps the committee to better understand my community involvement and scholastic activities. I would like to thank the HRFA for its support of Hungarian-American youth and for considering me for the student aid grant. Thank you." Fred is the son of our Director and Manager of Br. 50, Elvira Petry. KENNETH VARJÚ, Member Br. 302: "I would like to thank the HRFA for the student aid scholarship I recently received. Also, thanks to Mrs. Julianna Tompa for my recommendation. Kenneth Varjú Presently I am twenty years old and a junior at Rutgers University. I am working toward a dual major in Economics and Finance. I was active in the community at the Hungarian Athletic Club in New Brunswick where I learned fencing and competed in tournaments. Currently, I participate in basketball, volleyball, and football leagues at the college. After graduation, I plan to work at a Fortune 500 Company in the New Jersey area. Your contribution will be a great help toward my expenses in college. Once again, thank you for the scholarship." Kenneth was recommended by Julianna Tompa, Manager of Br. 302. MAGDALENA (Diosi) WILSON Member Br. 62: "I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation for selecting me as a recipient of your Student Aid benefit. I was honored by your decision. Magdalena (Diosi) Wilson I graduated from Purdue University Calumet this past December with a degree in Nursing. I am currently employed at Community Hospital, Munster, IN, in their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. My dream has been to work in this unit ever since my Freshman year in High School, and now, almost eight years later, that dream has finally come true. I am planning to return to school this upcoming fall and continue school until I obtain my Masters Degree in Neonatal Nursing. Working with and helping these tiny babies and their parents fight for life fills a special place in my heart with happiness and makes everyday seem a like new beginning. I have also recently been married, and my married name is Wilson. My husband graduated this May with a degree in Nursing. Thanks again." Magdalena was recommended by Maria Kovács, Manager of Br. 62.
