FRATERNITY Page 15 PENNSYLVANIA NEWS The Third Avenue Presbyterian Church of Beaver Falls, PA and members of Branch 151 of the HRFA again hosted the Ecumenical Service for Hungarians in the Beaver Valley. The William Penn Association shared the expenses with the HRFA. Representation from the William Penn included National President Elmer E. Vargo and his wife Betty and Director Elmer Toth and his wife Ruth. The children from the Beaver Falls Branch presented a lovely Christmas pageant to approximately 100 people in attendance. The Rev. Nicholas Novak from the Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh conducted the service along with Father Francis Frazir from St. Philomenia Parish. The beautifully decorated church was truly a lovely inspiration for this traditional service in its fourth year. Refreshments were served following the service and Paul Farkas, Chairman of the Congregation, greeted the guests. Endre Csornán, representing the Hunga­rian Reformed Federation of America, thanked everyone for their continued support and enthusiasm. Special thanks to Richard Ankney and Zoltán Kovács for their moving renditions of Hungarian hymns. Arlene Csornán, Branch Manager BRANCH NEWS BRANCH 1-BRIDGEPORT, CT The annual meeting of Branch 1 was held on January 27, 1991, at 10:45 a.m. Mrs. Ella Racz read the opening prayer. Mr. John Koi, Sr. gave an explanation of Federation functions and the importance of our support. Margaret Csuka announced the birth of Paul James Hongo, III, great grandson of Mr. John Koi, Sr. and grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Hongo, and that baby Paul and Miss Megan Lynn Csire were both new members of the Federation. Mrs. Joseph Liptak, who had passed away, was remembered. The Federation-scholarship was explained to those who were not familiar with the conditions under which it could be obtained. During the year Branch 1 sponsored a trip to Atlantic City and a general discussion followed as to what activities could be undertaken by the members of the Branch during the year. The results of the election of branch officers were the same as last year: John Koi, Sr., President; Margaret Nagy, Vice President; Robin Racz, Treasurer; Ella Racz, Secretary. The meeting was adjourned at 11:16 a.m. Next meeting will be held at the First United Church of Christ, Nagy Hall, on January 26, 1992 at 10:30 a.m. Ella Racz, Secretary BRANCH 3 & 39—FAIRPORT HARBOR & ASHTABULA, OH On February 17, 1991, the annual branch meeting was called to order by President Edward Bihary. Rev. Louis Medgyesi gave the opening prayer. All reports were accepted. During the meeting it was unanim­ously agreed upon that the annual "gulyás" fund raiser dinner was a very successful event. The szalonna sütés was also attended by many members and fellowship was enjoyed by all. A silent prayer for the departed members followed the discussion. It was voted upon that the Branch will be sending $50.00 to the Margaret Kosa Bertalan Heritage Fund. Vice President Elizabeth Medgyesi announced that our annual fund raiser dinner will be held on Sunday, July 21, 1991. The annual szalonna sütés (bacon roast) will take place on another Sunday, and the Christmas party will be held on December 8, 1991. All members and their friends are invited to these fellowship affairs. The next meeting will be held on June 16, 1991, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairport Harbor Church.
