An event of very special significance to Hungarians and to medicine is coming in May and June of this year. The Children's choir and orchestra from the city of Nyíregyháza, Hungary, will tour the United States for the benefit of the newly-created non-profit, non­governmental Hungarian Heart Foundation. The choir and orchestra is composed of eighty students of the Nyíregyháza State School of Music under the direction of Denes Szabó and Nándor Toth. Trained under the Kodály method, the prize winning Nyíregyháza choir and orchestra has toured interna­tionally and performed in Warsaw, Venezuela, East Germany, and Australia. In March of this year, they performed for the music educators National Conven­tion in Washington, D.C. The major U.S. cities included on this tour are listed below. May 26: New Brunswick, NJ May 27: Bridgeport, CT May 29: New York City June 1: Woodbridge, NJ June 2: New Brunswick, NJ June 3: Washington, D.C. June 5: Pittsburgh, PA June 6: Youngstown, OH June 8: Fairview Park, OH June 9 & 10: Wyandotte, MI June 11: Hammond, IN The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America and the William Penn Association, the two Hungarian Fraternal Societies, join forces in supporting this FIRST major cultural and philantropic exchange between the new democratic Hungary and the United States. The leaders of the two societies urge our local branch managers and agents to get actively involved in the work of the local committees.
