Page 14 TESTVÉRISÉG BRANCH 151-BEAVER FALLS, PA On Friday, August 29, 1987, Branch 151 made its first appearance in a community-sponsored affair. It was the annual Beaver Falls block party. The anticipation of the event was evident by the wonderful response of our members to help make this affair such a success. Ladies from the branch spent weeks preparing the wonderful Hungarian pastries which were eagerly bought by the passing crowds. The atmosphere of the area occupied by our branch was reminiscent of a Hungarian sidewalk cafe. Little round tables with umbrellas and red tablecloths beckoned passersby to stop and chat with their fellow Hungarians, many of whom took residence with our group for the entire day. There is no doubt that the Hungarian bake sale was one of the most popular at the block party, and particularly heartening was the fact that many people who purchased cakes went home to return again that evening to purchase more. The eyes of the crowds were filled with awe as they beheld the wonderful display of Hungarian artifacts donated to portray our Hungarian culture to others in the community. We especially wish to thank the sponsoring merchant of our group, Mr. Charles Hujber. Charlie, whose Hungarian barber shop is a long time landmark in Beaver Falls, is representative of many typical Hungarians with his hospitality and generosity. We also extend our gratitude to the following ladies of the committee, who not only baked delicious pastries, but also contributed their time and effort all day long by greeting people and selling baked goods. They were: Hazel Farkas, Peggy Fabri, Helen Wilson, Dela & Mary Swagger, and Arlene Csornán. Of course, we could not forget the following gentlemen who set up the tables and displays and did numerous jobs to make our efforts run smoothly. They were: Paul Farkas, Zoltán Kovács, Alex Varady, Frank Wilson, Joe Fabri, and Endre Csornán. Scripture tells us that the body of Christ has many parts. We find evidence of this every time we have a fraternal event. God bless those many parts that function on behalf of the Hungarian Reformed Federation. Arlene Csornán, Branch Manager The 2nd annual picnic of the HRFA, Branch 151, was held on September 27, 1987 at West Mayfield Community Park. The weather was great, and the number of people that attended, 170 in all, shows that Hungarians do like to get together. Members of the branch took part in helping to make this a most successful affair. The food was good and plenty. Heading the menu was stuffed cabbage, gulyás and numerous covered dishes and salads. The ladies again outdid themselves by baking a variety of delicious Hungarian pastries. Of course, I have to mention the szallona sütés which was enjoyed by both young and old. We are already planning for the 3rd Annual Picnic, which we hope to embellish with Hungarian music. I wish to extend my thanks to our Branch President, Paul Farkas and his wife, Hazel; Treasurer, Alex Varady; Secretary, Margaret Fabri and her husband, Joe; Della and Mary Swagger; our good friend, Charles Hujber; my wife, Arlene, and Frank & Helen Wilson for the donation for the ticket expense, and the handmade stuffed dog for the raffle. Special thanks to Laci Kastal for traveling all the way from Ligonier to attend the "Bogrács." At this point I would like to add that an occasion such as this one again proves that there are many people who willingly help and work and sacrifice their time simply to "get together". Therefore, events similar to this one should be encouraged, since fraternal life is extended through such activities. Endre Csornán, Director
