Page 16 TESTVÉRISÉG Human Rights in Strasbourg and one of the world’s leading experts on environmental law, also spoke. The conference was funded by a number of international charities, including Mr. George Soros’ Open Society Foundation. The three conference organizers, all of them Rhodes Scholars, included Elizabeth Kiss, daughter of Branch 300 Manager Eva Kiss. The organizers are now in the process of editing a collection of essays on the new human rights which they plan to publish with Oxford University Press next year. LT Francesca Christy Music, MSC, USN, member of Br. #300 and daughter of Steve Ebner, President of Br. #300, received the recognition as “Outstanding Young Clinical Scientist for 1987’’ by the US Armed Forces. She received a B.S. in Microbiology in 1979 from the University of Maryland and completed a Medical Laboratory Technician program in 1980 at Montgomery College. In 1983, she graduated summa cum laude from both Salve Regina — The Newport College with a B.S. in Medical Technology, and from Southeastern Massachusetts University with a M.S. in Medical Laboratory Sciences. She is a registered medical technologist with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and a member of the American Association of Blood Banks, the American Society of Medical Technologists, the Society of Armed Forces Medical Laboratory Scientists, and the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. Lt. F. Christy Music, USN Christy was commissioned a LTJG aboard the USS Constitution in Boston in December 1983. Since then, she has been assigned to the Naval Hospital, Bethesda as the Head of the Blood Donor Center, and subsequently, as the Head of the Transfusion Service. This latter position is normally help by a Lieutant Commander, and involves one of the busiest and most complex transfusion services in the entire Navy. She has done an excellent job of coordinating blood component therapy between the Blood Bank and the attending physicians. Not only is Christy a good clinical laboratory scientist, she is also an outstanding young Naval officer. Therefore, she strongly deserved the recognition as “Outstanding Young Clinical Scientist for 1987.” Besides all the professional accomplishments, Christy is also a proud young mother of a healthy baby boy by the name of Andreas — one of the youngest members of the Federation. She, her husband Christian and the baby are presently residing in Rota, Spain, where Christy heads the Naval Hospital Laboratory. We wish them the best of luck in their new environment and professional life. Paul Harsanyi, young member of Br. #300, often confuses his opponents when he plays a tennis match. Namely, he serves right-handed, but he hits all his other strokes left-handed, except for a two-handed backhand. When he learned to play, his teacher taught him to serve right- handed. Harsanyi said she probably didn’t notice that he switched to his left-hand to hit his other strokes. “I write and play tennis left-handed, and I throw right-handed,” said Harsanyi. Right-handed or left-handed, he did excellently in the USTA Boys’ 12 Clay Court championships at Hanes Park, NC., where he finished second. In Texas at the National Hard Court Championship he came in the 3rd place, and achieved Rank 1 in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Paul would like to be a tennis pro and a doctor. Right now he is straight A student at Landon School in Bethesda, MD. We hope that he will succeed in all his aspirations and wish him the best of luck. Eva Kiss, Branch Manager.
