FRATERNITY Page 19 Director Endre Csornán suggested that the branch raise money for the restoration of the Statue of Liberty by selling pins and decals. He also relayed the following report: during the fall of 1985 it was brought to the attention of Director Csornán that there were two Hungarian refugees living in the vicinity of Beaver Falls who had fallen into unfortunate circumstances. Director Csornán informed the members of Branch 151 who took up a collection of food, clothing and money to aid these fellows. President Bertalan instructed his office to send $200 to Branch 151 as seed money, designated $100 to be given to Atilla and Karoly. The branch meeting was concluded with a prayer by Zoltán Kovács — Refreshments were enjoyed in Kovács’ Deli following the meeting. Arlene Csornán, Secretary BRANCH 158 - VESTABURG, PA In response to our request to all branches to have 1985 officer elections, an explanatory letter was received from branch manager, Irene Sinclair: “... we can’t have meetings. My people are from Virginia Beach, VA (5), 2 in New York City, some away at college, 2 in Philadelphia, the rest in scattered areas of Pennsylvania. As for various acts of service within our community — I have collected used clothing for 30 years — some were taken to W.VA, some to Greene County, PA — this week Goodwill from Pittsburgh took 40 boxes (large ones which took 2 men to carry) and 20 plastic bags. I work as a nurse in a nursing home and don’t have time to be involved in a lot of activities. I help support our church and various community projects. I do not talk about the services I do because my parents taught me when I do something forget it but if someone does something for you, remember it all your life. They quoted ‘The gift without the giver is bare.’ ‘If you can’t do something from the heart don’t do it,’ they said. Also they said, ‘Let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing.’ So, once something is done for another, forget it.
