Page 14 TESTVÉRISÉG I have also learned that I should not be wasteful in what God gives me. It’s hard to throw away that peanut-butter and jelly sandwich, when there are five starving orphans staring at you; even if the bread is stale, and the jelly sour. I’ve learned to appreciate such things as food, warm showers (we had only three showers ALL SUMMER LONG!!!) and a soft bed. (Tents were our homes.) For about four days, we had no cooking water — the water truck never arrived. But that makes me think of the people of Ethiopia who haven’t had any water for four years!!! Indeed, we must use whatever God gives us with gratitude and in accordance to His will. What happens now? As I have been thrown into college as a freshman, I feel the Lord has shown me He wants me to serve Him as a missionary. Many years ago, God had planted the seed of missions in my heart. Many times I ignored His calling. Many times I followed. But when I felt this seed had shriveled up and died, He kept on giving me water and sunshine. It was in South Africa that I found the seed that had blossomed into a flower. He had taught me to humbly drop all my pride and yield to His calling me to be a missionary. Someday, I hope to step off a plane in some distant land far away from home, and be able to serve Him there. Perhaps that might be the same smoke-covered mountain-top filled with cries of orphans, where my flower still grows. Then my flower and I shall be reunited; never to be torn apart again. Zoltán Király BRANCH 401 - HAMILTON, ONT. At the officers election meeting for 1986 the following were elected officers: Joseph S. Bakty — president, Stephen Gal — vice president, Rita Kurpe — secretary, John Balogh — treasurer, Charles Cino — controller. Plans were discussed for activities in 1986. BRANCH 402 - WELLAND, ONT. The following were elected officers for 1986: John Fodo — president, Joseph Kovács — vice president; Rev. Louis K. Aday — secretary. BRANCH 17 - SOUTH BEND The meeting of Branch 17 on April 5th was called to order by President Dorothy Batiz at 5011 Ford Street. The opening prayer was given by Charles Modory. Plans were discussed for several activities in the coming months in the branch. The branch manager read an invitation from branches 62 and 84 to attend the 90th Anniversary celebration of the HRFA on April 12, 1986 at Calvin Reformed Church Hall in Lynwood, Illinois. Several members indicated that they would attend this affair. Plans were made for a picnic on June 28th — the time and place will be announced later. Helen K. Modory, secretary 20-AS OSZTÁLY, TRENTON, NJ A 20-as osztály 1985. december 21-én, 7 órakor tartotta karácsonyi ünnepélyét, karöltve az Amerikai Magyar Szövetség trentoni csoportjával. Ügy láttuk jónak, hogy közösen rendezve a kiadások terheit is könnyebben elviselhetjük. Mrs. Ann M. Kröslin, osztálykezelő üdvözölte a megjelenteket, akik igen szép számmal voltak jelen. Bemutatta Father Skinta görögkatolikus lelkészt, valamint Nt. Adorján Kálmán református lelkészt és más magyar vendégeket. Az asztali imádságot Adorján Kálmán lelkipásztor mondotta. Gazdagon terített asztalok várták a vendégeket. A gyermekek ajándékokat kaptak a Mikulástól is, szaloncukrot, csokoládét. Este 10 óráig tartott az összejövetel. A jelenlévő 82 főből 32 mindkét egyesületnek tagja volt. Mrs. Ann M. Kröslin osztálykezelő 1986. január 14-én tartotta az osztály rendes havi gyűlését. 18 tag volt jelen. Bogár Imre tagtárs megnyitja az ülést és felkéri a tagokat, hogy tartsák meg a választást, még akkor is, ha a rossz idő miatt kevesen jelentek meg. A jelölő bizottság által javasolt vezetőket a tagság egyhangúlag megválasztotta. Elnök: Bogár Imre. Alelnök: Katona Walter. Titkár és jegyzőkönyv vezető: Mrs. Ann M. Kröslin. Pénztáros: Beke Anton.
