FRATERNITY Page 19 BRANCH 198, LIGONIER, PA At the January meeting elections were held and the following were elected — Paul Thomas Ko­vács, president; Rev. Paul Kovács, vice-president; Edith Kovács, secretary; Fran McDowell, trea­surer; Rose Airey, controller. Leslie Kastal was en­rolled as a new member. After the effort of many months, Leslie was able to greet his wife and two daughters in the hills of Ligonier. They arrived from Transylvania. At the April meeting, Rose Airey, deceased member, was remembered in prayer. The recent visit of the Rev. Eva Fabian with her church group is mentioned with appreciation. Many of the members of the Bethlen Home are “adopted” by the church and visited regularly. A picnic is plan­ned for summer. Edith Kovács, secretary BRANCH 200, KALAMAZOO, Ml The following persons were elected at the Feb­ruary meeting: Nicholas Kennedy, president; James Bodnar, vice-president; Margaret Harasim, secre­tary. Branch Manager Steven Kiss is beginning his 42nd year of service for the HRFA. He reported that all 24 members of the Bodnar Family are members! Can any family beat that number? BRANCH 238, YOUNGSTOWN, OH The meeting was called to order by Margaret Dubos on May 5, at the Hungarian Reformed Church, Youngstown, OH. Margaret Dubos was elected president; Tilley Tatar, vice-president; Al­bert Batta, secretary-treasurer, and Mrs. Albert Batta, controller. Mr. Batta gave a report on the seminar that had been held in Lorain. The Rev. Imre Bertalan, National President, had opened the meeting and introduced all members and officers. Discussions were held on the various types of policies now available and on ways to encourage members to “spread the word” regarding selling of insurance to help the Federation. Joseph F. Tegze, national director of sales, also stressed the importance of selling insurance. AÍ Batta, secretary BRANCH 149, TONAWANDA, NY The members of Branch 149 elected the fol­lowing officers for 1985: Stephen Syposs, president; Andrew Kelemen, vice-president; Helen O. Syposs, secretary-treasurer; Ethel Toth, controller. BRANCH 227, WARREN, OH The meeting was called together by president Joseph Edgar Benedek followed by a prayer led by Director Joseph E. Benedek. The minutes of the last meeting were read and attested by Eliza­beth Prokop. Director Joseph E. Benedek gave a report on the newly elected National Officers. The officers elected for 1985 are — Joseph Edgar Benedek, president; Marge S. Nicolas, vice-presi­dent; Nancy A. Benedek, secretary-treasurer. Dis­cussion followed with plans being formulated to observe the 90th Anniversary of the HRFA with Branches 22, 252 and 227, in 1986. The next meeting will be a combined meeting of the three branches. The meeting wás closed with a prayer by Director Joseph E. Benedek. Nancy A. Benedek, secretary Although no member of the HRFA was directly involved with a large loss during the recent tor­nado that swept through parts of Ohio in the last few weeks, it was decided to send a donation to the Niles Emergency Relief Fund to help the victims of the tornado.
