(Dur­ing discussion of this motion and the actual vote the aforesaid three members of the Board were absent.) f) The Convention approved that the salary of the National Officers be $45,000 per year ef­fective January 1, 1985. (The National Offi­cers were absent.) g) The Convention approved that a gift of $15,- 000 which includes moving expenses be given to retiring Treasurer Joseph Molnár. (The Treasurer was absent.) h) The Convention approved that for this Con­vention, any National Officer retiring because of the loss of an election shall receive $15,000 which includes moving expenses. i) The Convention acknowledged the recom­mendation of the Finance Committee that the Board of Directors review the guidelines of the IRS and adjust the per diem rate of the Federation accordingly. j) The Convention acknowledged the recom­mendation of the Finance Committee that the Field Force Committee should evaluate the responsibilities and workload of the fra­ternal co-ordinators and it should make rec­ommendations to the Board concerning equi­table compensation for the services of the co­ordinators. k) The Convention unanimously accepted the report of the Finance Committee as a whole, with thanks to the members of the commit­tee. 39) Treasurer Joseph Molnár thanked the Con­vention and asked God’s blessing upon the future of our beloved Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, followed by a touching speech of his wife Helen Molnár. The Convention recognized the re­tiring Treasurer by standing ovation and a song led by the President. 40) Travel Committee chairman John Taba re­ported that his committee had completed his work and the checks will be distributed upon the ad­journment of this plenary session. 41) Vice-President Dezső Abraham, chairman of the nominating committee reported that his com­mittee was ready and will report in the next plenary session. 42) It was moved, and seconded to adjourn the meeting 40 minutes earlier than scheduled. The motion was passed. 43) President Imre Bertalan adjourned the meet­ing at 4:20 P.M. with evening devotions led by the Rev. Alexander Forro. V. The Fifth Day, September 21, 1984 44) The President reopened the plenary session at 9:00 A.M. The Rev. Gabor Nitsch conducted the morning devotions. 45) The roll-call was read by the secretary. All 71 delegates were present. 46) The Minutes of the previous day’s plenary was read and unanimously accepted. President re­quested delegates John Morey, Margaret Markus and Louise Veszprémi to attach their signatures. It was also moved, and seconded to express the thanks of the Convention to the recording secretary for his work. It was unanimously accepted. 47) At the request of the President delegate Ti­bor Dolinszky read the text of the proposed tele­gram to President Ronald Reagan, which is at­tached to these Minutes as EXHIBIT XIII. It was unanimously accepted to send the proposed tele­gram to the President of the United States of America. 48) It was moved, and seconded, that the branch managers receive a two percent raise effective Jan­uary 1, 1985. It was accepted with three absentions. 49) Delegate John K. Morey spoke in favor of complete computerization of the Federation’s work. 50) The Convention unanimously accepted the motion to thank Rev. Paul Kovács, Mrs. Edith Kovács and the staff of the Bethlen Home for their hospitality during this convention. 51) The President thanked the good ladies who helped to solicit more than 700 (1,800) dollars for the Student Fund during this convention. 52) Director Charles Modory thanked the con­vention as his long tenner of official service to the Federation came to an end. Vice-President William Aros expressed his personal thanks for the years in the service of the HRFA. Vice-President William Szuch said: “thank you.” The Convention greeted the retiring members of the Board with vigorous applause. 53) Administrator Paul Kovács thanked the members of the Convention for their donations to the Bethlen Home. 54) It was acknowledged that in the future more detailed guidelines should be given in case of elec­tion of national officers. 55) The Convention released the members of the Board of Directors from their responsibilities between the two Conventions. 56) President Imre Bertalan appointed William Szuch as the temporary chairman of the conven­tion. 57) In behalf of the Nominating Committee Be­la Toth read the report of the Nominating Com­
