Branch Managers, Directors and agents who at­tended the district meeting of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indian a, Illinois and Canada at the Hungarian Pres­byterian Church of Youngstown, OIL PRESENTATION OF FIRST HERITAGE PRESERVATION AWARD The first Heritage Preservation Award was pres­ented to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Orvos of Edison, NJ. The presentation was made at the 9th Annual Hun­garian Festival on June 2nd in New Brunswick, in the Orvos Folk Art Studio. Through their own efforts they established a folk art studio where they have taught weaving, Hungarian embroidery, paint­ing on fabrics and the many forms of folk art. Mrs. Orvos has conducted classes throughout cen­tral New Jersey and both of them have arranged innumerable exhibits throughout the state. Mr. Or­vos has hand carved a “Székely kapu,” a Szekely gate and a cast iron bell stand. Through their ef­forts they have inspired others to become aware of their Hungarian heritage. The Heritage Presentation Award will be given by the HRFA to citizens throughout our country, who have inspired and taught others about their heritage and was instituted in the spring of 1984.
