CONSOLIDATION The recommendation of the William Penn Association concerning the consolidation of the two large Hungarian Fraternal organizations was brought to the floor of the 1980 Convention and it was resolved that President Arpad George form a fact-finding committee which would present its report to the Board of Directors. The consolidation study took considerable time and effort on the part of the Executive Committee and the members of the Consolidation Committee: Vice Presidents William Aros and William Szuch, Reverend Gabor Csordás, Alex Eger, Jr., Counsellor and Richmond H. Ferguson, Esq. Five committee meetings and two special Board meetings dealt with the subject. As a result, on the December 16 Board meeting the Consolidation Agreement was adopted by the unanimous vote of our Board. It was further resolved that at said meeting, provided the by-laws are approved, the Board fix the date, time, place and call a special Convention to consider the consolidation of the two societies. For the time-taking and conscientious work of carrying out the mandate of the Convention in reference to the study of the feasibility of consolidation, I wish to express my most sincere appreciation to the members of the Fact-Finding and Consolidation Committees and to the entire Board of Directors. For the fraternal spirit and sincere desire to make the consolidation talks succeed on the part of the Board of Directors of the William Penn Association and especially Elmer Charles, President, we express sincere appreciation. The many hours spent together has made us aware of the sincerity and dedication of all involved. The homework is completed, the documents have been prepared, discussions were held in the spring of 1982 on Field Force, branch managers and delegates level, thus input at every level was received. The HRFA’s contribution to the Consolidation is clear: 1 — financial stability 2 — strong ties with the American Hungarian Community 3 — fraternally oriented Field Force and branch managers which would have an equally important role with the agency system of the proposed consolidated society. IN MEMORIAM We pay respect to the memory of the 288 members who died during the year 1981. To their loved ones we express our deepest sympathy. At the same time, we thank our Lord particularly for those who served our Federation with dedication; Andrew Kurimai, Director, Alex Csik, District Manager, Adrienne Vegh, Home Office employee, the Reverend Arthur Ludwig, District Manager, Edward Kosta and John Berecz, Branch Managers. Respectfully submitted, Imre Bertalan President NEWS FROM THE BETHLEN HOME The yearly inspection by the Department of Health of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was conducted the first two weeks of May. Mrs. Pat Feeney, R.N., spent four days crisscrossing the building and examining our employees. She recognized the cleanliness of our nursing home, admired our tasty Hungarian cooking, and the many activity programs. In a thank-you note to Mrs. Edith Kovács (dietitian of the home), Mrs. Feeney writes: ‘‘May I again congratulate you and your stafffor providing such a comfortable and happy home for the elderly." The Bethlen Home’s Hungarian language course is held Friday afternoons, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. It is followed with much interest and our employees can often be heard practicing Hungarian.
