Branch News: GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES Mr. and Mrs. Barney Katona, Branch 3, Fairport Harbor, Ohio, were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary by their four children at their home at 235 Meadows Drive, Painesville, Ohio. Mrs. Katona is the daugther of the late Joseph and Julia Hrivnyak of Maynard, Ohio. She has a twin sister,, Marcella Gazda, of Martins Ferry, Ohio. She was employed by the Ohio Bell Co. for 16 years, retiring in 1973. Mr. Katona the son of the late Barney and Eliza* belh Katona, was born in Crescent, Ohio. He has three sisters: Elizabeth Pucsok, Margaret Markus, Emma Oris, all of Painesville, Ohio. He was a coal miner for 22 years and retired from the Diamond Shamrock in 1972 after 25 years. He was the chief Elder of the Fairport Hungarian Reformed Church for nine years. The couple have four children: Julia Katona, Barney Katona all of Painsville, Ohio, and Esther Gartman of Endwell, N.Y. They have 14 grandchild­ren, and one great-grandchild. Mr. and Mrs. Katona were married on July 30, 1931 at St. Stanislaus Church in Maynard, Ohio by Rev. Hayes. On July 31, 1981, they had their vows renewed at St. Anthony’s Church, Fairport Harbor, Ohio by the Father Englert. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Takacs from Branch 3, Fair- port Harbor, Ohio celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at a party hosted by their daughter and son-in-law Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Lasco. They were married June 23, 1931 at the First Lutheran Church, Fairport Harbor, Ohio by the Rev. Zsigmond Ladanyi. Mrs. Takacs is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rákóczi. Mrs. Takacs along with her five sisters labored diligently in the church kitchen cooking for the many suppers and banquets through­out the years. Three of her sisters are still living. Mrs. Mary Sutch, Mrs. Julia Karakó, Mrs. Margaret Nagy. Mr. Takacs is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Takacs of Akron, Ohio. One sister, Ann, re­sides in West Palm Beach, Florida. Mr. Takach worked at the Dimond Shamrock for 45% years, retiring as a supervisor in the utility department. The couple has one daughter, Sylvia Lasco, of Painesville, Ohio. They also have two grandsons, Keith, of Houstan, Texas and Craig of Painsville, O. On June 28, Rev. Paul Kantor had a special service for the honored couple at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Fairport Harbor. The church bells tolled 50 times in their honor.
