The Convention program, the proposed revisions of the by-laws recommended by the Board of Directors and copies of the 1976 edition of the by-laws were given to the delegates. BY-LAWS — AMENDMENTS AND REVISIONS The By-Laws Committee consisting of the four National Officers, William Szuch Vice-president, Rev. Gabor Csordás Roard of Director with the counsel of our Legal Counselor recommended extensive revisions of our by-laws to the Board of Directors. It reduced the number of the four National Officers to three. The Board of Directors reviewed the text and recommended same with minor changes to the 1980 Convention for adoption. Further changes were made by the delegates until the final text of each revised paragraph was approved by the Convention and the revised by-laws was adopted as a whole. The revised by-laws was published in the Fraternity, the official paper of the Federation and also in a pamphlet form. The revised by-laws was mailed to the insurance departments of the 14 states and the Ontario Province of Canada in' which the Federation operates. 1980 CONVENTION RESOLUTIONS a) The 1980 Convention passed many resolutions concerning the future life and operation of the Federation and financial directives for the Bethlen Home. All the resolutions were presented by the National Officers through their respective departments to the Board of Directors for proper action. b) The resolution voted by the Board of Directors of the William Penn Association toward the consolidation of the Federation and the William Penn Association was discussed by the members of the Convention. It was resolved that the President appoint a Consolidation Committee of ten members. The Legal Counselor, the Financial Counselor and the Actuary were requested to serve in the committee in advisory capacity without the right to vote. The following members appointed by the President to serve in the committee were acceptable to the Convention: Rev. Imre Bertalan President (Chairman), Elmer E. Vargo Vice President-Secretary, Joseph S. Molnár Treasurer, William Szuch Vice President; Rev. Gabor Csordás, Rev. Tibor Dömötör, Charles Modory Board of Directors; László Kernes, Joseph Molnár, Jr., and William B. Puskas Field Force. The committee met in 1980 and 1981 and is ready to make its report and present its findings to the regular spring Board of Directors meeting in 1981. ELECTION OF NATIONAL OFFICERS AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS The Convention elected the following persons for a four year term: Rev. Imre Bertalan National President (acclamation); Mr. Elmer E. Vargo Vice President-Secretary, Joseph S. Molnár Treasurer; Rt. Rev. Dezső Abraham, William Aros, William Szuch Vice Presidents; Joseph Bakty, Rev. Gabor Csordás Rt. Rev. Tibor Dömötör, George Dózsa, Rev. Louis Illés, Charles Modory, Miss Ethel Molnár, Mrs. Rose Nagy and Joseph Tegze Board of Directors. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE During the year Executive Committee (EC) meetings were held in accordance with our by-laws. I thank the National Officers for their cooperation and contribution.", to the matters discussed. The minutes were mailed by Elmer E. Vargo Vice President-Secretary to the Board members. From the minutes the Board members were informed about all the actions of the EC. FRATERNITY Four issues of the Fraternity was published by the Bethlen Press, Inc. Ligonier, Pa. I thank the National Officers and the Board members for writing articles. In 1980 substantial amounts of donations were given toward the support of the Bethlen Home and the Student Aid and Loan Fund of the HRFA. Both have a tax exempt status from the IRS. It is my hope that in 1981 the proceeds of our 85th ANNIVERSARY banquet celebrations will be contributed by the sponsoring branches toward the support of these two charitable projects. HOME OFFICE AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE On March 1, 1980 the location1 of our Home Office was changed from 815 15th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. to 2025 Eye Street, N.W. Room 916, Washington, D.C. The lease agreement for the Administrative Office was renewed. The EC and the Building Committee inspected many buildings in the Washington area for the use of the new Home Office and Administrative Office. The Building Committee will teport on its work and recommendations. Tables and chairs of our meeting room in the Kossuth House building was sent from the storage of Victor Van in Alexandria, Virginia to furnish the meeting room of the Bethlen Home for the 1980 Convention. YOUTH CAMPS The Youth Camp was sponsored this year jointly by the Calvin Synod and the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. The donations of the HRFA to 6
