signed their work-time sheets monthly. They received their regular monthly salaries with overtime pay on the basis of figures attested by their signatures. CONVENTION I received the branch membership list compiled on the basis of June 30th cut-off date. I followed the grouping of branches after the pattern of the 1976 Convention. It was approved by the EC and the Board of Directors. It was published with the date, place and address of the branch special election meetings in the last two 1979 issues of Fraternity. The by-laws references with interpretations of the branch special election meetings was also published in the last 1979 issue of Fraternity. An announcement that the National Officers positions will be filled for a four year period by the Convention and applications for the positions will be accepted until April 30, 1980 was also published in the last 1979 issue of our official paper in English and Hungarian. It will be up to the Convention, the highest governing body of the Federation to make the final decision on the structure of National Offices. MISCELLANEOUS Two Field Force meetings were held in Ligonier, Pa. The four district meetings were held in Cleveland, Duquesne, Indiana Harbor and Woodbridge. Since the government is paying high interest on bonds and short term certificates and the mortgage interest rates also reached an all time high level, we experienced that more properties are for sale in the District of Columbia real estate market. If this trend continues I hope that it will help us to find in the near future the new site or new building for our Home Office. In 1979 the National Annual Youth Camp for the first time was sponsored jointly by Calvin Synod and the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. The young people visited the Nursing Home and were the guests of the Bethlen Home for refreshments. The President presented the donations voted by the Board. The Secretary made a promotional speech to the youth. On May 9th the four National Officers attended the commemorative banquet of Colonel Michael Kovats de Fabricy (1724-1779) held on May 9th in Washington, D.C. The President represented the Federation on May 11th and 12th at the bi-centennial Kovats commemorative exhibit and banquet held in Charleston, South Carolina. Mr. László Eszenyi Executive Vice-President in the presence of Rev. Imre Bertalan and Mr. George Dózsa Board members, Mr. William Puskas Area Manager and Rev. Zoltán Király member presented a replica of the banner of Col. Kovats donated by Mr. John Taba, president of branch 300 and a silver Kovats medal designed by Mr. Sándor Bodo artist to the museum of Karcag, Hungary. These events were publicized in detail with pictures in the Fraternity. The resolutions voted in 1979 by the Board of Directors were carried out by the EC. The Federation fulfilled all its obligations; the death and sick benefits claims were paid in the shortest period of time. Four issues of the Fraternity was published by the Bethlen Press, Inc., Ligonier, Pa. I thank the National Officers and Board members for writing articles. Priority was given to fraternal activites on the branch level. I was happy to receive reports from our branches that our members are having an increasing interest in the Bethlen Home, our charitable institution. Substantial amount of donations were mailed toward the financial support of the three building projects. Our National Officers, Board Members and many members of our branches were in Ligonier on the day of the bazaar sponsored to purchase a mini-bus for the welfare and benefit of the guests in the Nursing Home. Since September 1979 many of our branches made the 1980 bazaar their charitable project for our Convention year. In 1979 impressive amounts of donations were received for the Student Aid and Loan Fund of the HRFA. It has a tax exempt status from the IRS. I urge our members to continue to generously support the Student Aid and Loan Fund of the HRFA. As we commemorate the memories of the 315 members who died during the year of 1979, I particularly mention the following names who served the Federation, the Bethlen Home and our members with dedication: Mr. Emery Király, former National Treasurer; Mr. Charles Nagy, Board of Director since 1970; Mrs. Suzanna Szuch, beloved mother of William Szuch, Vice President; James Fegyverneky, Mihály Kaszonyi, Mrs. Valeria H. Koss, Ernest Sala and Nicholas Szegedi former branch managers; Rev. Francis Nagy former member of Board of Managers and Mrs. Louis Varga former employee of the Bethlen Home. May their memories be blessed. * * * I express my appreciation and thanks to Mr. Bela Toth, my secretary for his services and cooperation I had the pleasure to count on. Respectfully submitted, ARP AD GEORGE, President 6
