At the Norridge Chicago West Side congregation’s special worship service held on November 4th Mrs. Mary Kish, president of the Ladies Aid Society presented a new robe to Bishop Desmond D. Parragh, the beloved pastor of the congregation. The Hungarian sermon was preached by President George and the English by Rev. Victor Orth. Dean Arthur A. Ludwig and Mrs. Mary Kish were in charge of the presentation of robe. The ministers of the Western Classis also took part in the worship service. At the impressive and well attended banquet President George was the toastmaster. Bishop Parragh thanked the members of the congregation and the guests for the robe, personal good wishes and gifts. On November 25th the First United Church of Christ in Bridgeport, Connecticut celebrated its 85tli anniversary. The sermon was delivered by the Rev. Stephen Sziarto, a schoolmate and lifelong friend of Rev. Emil Nagy, pastor. Rev. Emil Nagy graciously introduced Rev. Anthony J. Szilagyi. President George extended the greetings of the HRB'A. On November 25th the United Church of Christ of Bridgeport, Connecticut also celebrated its 75th anniversary. The anniversary worship services were held in the morning and afternoon. President George and Rev. Nicholas Novak preached during the morning and Bishop Desmond D. Parragh in the afternoon worship services. The Connecticut and New Jersey ministers also took part in the services. Memorial services were held in the cemetery. Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy, Rev. Alexander Babos and Dr. John Butosi commemorated the memories of the former two pastors: Rev. Ernő Komjáthy and Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen M. Bessemer. Thanks were expressed at both banquets to the HRFA for helping both congregations with mortgages during their relocation building projects. On October 7th Mr. Emery Király returned his spirit to his Creator. A few weeks before because of the deterioration of his health at age 96 his daughter brought “Király bácsi” into the Bethlen Home. Mr. Király was given the red carpet treatment by the administrator, nurses and cooks. In spite of the excellent services his condition worsened and he died at the Latrobe Hospital. A wake service was held in Pittsburgh, Pa. Rev. Nicholas Novak pastor read the comforting words of Scripture and said the prayer. President George gave a brief summary of his fruitful life which was a blessing to his family, the Cleveland congregation, the HRFA and to the refugee Hungarians whom he helped with great dedicated Christian love. Mr. László Pásztor also bid farewell to the honorary president of the American Hungarian Federation. His body was flown to Miami, Florida and placed next to his wife, nee Jolán Völgyi. Rev. John Paul Nagy pastor officiated at the funeral service. Memorial farewell addresses were delivered by Mr. Gaspar Nagy-Mihaly representing the local chapter of the American Hungarian Federation and by Mr. Tibor Révész representing branch 370 of the HRFA. From the minutes of branch 302 in New Brunswick, New Jersey we were sorry to read about the two eye operations of Mr. William Puskas area manager. Rev. Imre Bertalan and Mr. George Dózsa Board members, Mr. William Puskas and Rev. Zoltán Király participated in the bi-centennial memorial of Colonel Michael Kovats de Fabriczy at Karcag, Hungary his place of birth. Mrs. Ida Bankó branch manager reported that during her one week vacation in Ligonier, Pennsylvania the Bethlen Home held its annual bazaar. It was a financial success. All the gift contributions of the members of branch 302 were sold. Out of the proceeds a van was purchased which will be used as a mini-bus to transport the elderly people to shop in Ligonier and to take them to the Latrobe Hospital. Mr. Elmer Charles, a member of the HRFA on November 19th was installed as the President of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress for the fiscal year of 1979-1980. We are proud of Mr. Elmer Charles for receiving this great honor. On November 19th Mr. Elmer Vargo our National Secretary made the pledge of a Board member of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress. He was also elected for a one year period as a Board member of the F.I.C. of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress. 5
