CLEVELAND SWEETHART BALL BENEFITS BETHLEN HOME On April 1, 1978 the Women’s Guild of the First Hungarian Reformed Church held the Annual Sweetheart Ball for the benefit of our Bethlen Home. Guests from far and near enjoyed the largest social event held in the Hungarian Community on Buckeye Road. The debutantes were radiant with their beauty and charm. They wore pastel gowns with corsages and were escorted by their father for the presentation. Our heartfelt thanks on behalf of our guests at the Bethlen Home, are extended to the Women’s Guild, under the leadership of their President, Mrs. Irene Tiegiser. The debutantes were attended by Mrs. Rose Arnosky. The picture of the 1977 debutantes was inadvertently omitted from our publication last year. We wish to correct this oversight, as the debutantes of 1977 were equally charming and are shown in the accompanying photos. The Administrator for the Bethlen Home, Rev. Paul Kovács was in attendance with his wife along with Elmer E. Vargo, National Secretary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America with his wife. The Pastor, Dr. Stephen Szabó and his wife were most gracious hosts. Rev. and Mrs. Paul Kovács, Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Szabó and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E. Vargo The food and Hungarian pastries, donated by the women of the church were superb. A fine evening of dancing was enjoyed by all with the melodious music of the Tokay orchestra filling the hall. Let us hope that these events will be held for many years to come. This is further witness to maintaining our heritage and preserving that given to us by our forefathers.
