important Convention Notice THE HUNGARIAN REFORMED FEDERATION OF AMERICA 1. During the period of February 1 to March 31, 1976 our branches must hold special meetings for the purpose of electing delegates and alter­nates to our next quadrennial convention to be held on June 28 - July 2, 1976 in Ligonier, Pa. 2. a) Each branch having a minimum adult mem­bership of 300 shall send one delegate to the Convention. Branches having more than 300 members shall send one additional delegate for each multiple of 300 members. b) Branches of less than 300 members were grouped into units of not less than 300 and not more than 375 members. The grouping of units was arranged according to geographical location. The grouping of the branchhes into units was approved by the Board of Directors. Each unit may jointly send one delegate to the Convention. 3. The cut off date for branch membership was done on November 30, 1975 by the Controller in accordance with the resolution of the Board of Directors. 4. a) The list of branches with 300 members or more and the list of the small branches grouped into units is published in the January Special issue of the Fraternity in “List II.” I also speci­fied in “List II” the number of delegates the large and the small branches grouped into units shall elect. b) All branches must hold special meetings within sixty days following the announcement in the official publication of the meeting date of the Convention by the President as directed by the Board of Directors. Thus the holding of special branch meetings period will he February 1 - March 31, 1976. c) In “List I" of the Fraternity I published the date, time, name and address of the place of all the special branch meetings at which the Con­vention delegates and alternates will be elected. 5. One-twentieth of the branch members must he present at the first meeting in order to meet the quorum. 6. If the quorum is not met at the first meeting, the second meeting will be held on the same day of the following week at the same time and same place. The members present at the second meet­ing, regardless of number shall constitute a quo­rum. 7. The delegates and alternates shall he elected by separate ballots and plurality vote. 8. The names of the delegates and alternates shall be certified to the Secretary within 10 days after the election. The Secretary will provide the forms of reporting the election results to the branch managers. 9. Each certification will be accompanied by a copy of the minutes of said meeting, the names and certificate numbers of the members present at the meeting and their signatures. The Secretary will mail the forms with columns for signature and certificate numbers to the branch managers. 10. The branch meetings may be held on Sundays or weekdays at our district offices, church or rented halls or in the homes of our branch members. 11. List I published in the Fraternity is an official announcement and invitation to the branch meetings electing delegates and alternates to the 1976 Convention. 12. The monthly dues are payable by the members on the first day of each month and must be paid on or before the 30th day following said date. A member who fails to pay his dues by the end of the 30 day period shall he suspended from membership rights. 13. Officers of similar organizations and employees of the Federation receiving a monthly salary cannot be delegates. 14. A person nominated to be a delegate or alternate candidate must be a good standing member of the Federation and the branch, or one of the branches of the group he is representing for at least one year prior to his election and must have fulfilled all his membership obligations. Branches formed within one year preceeding the Convention shall be exceptions. 15. The recommendations to the Convention adopted at the branch meetings must be attached to the list of the names and addresses of the elected 3
