President’s Report:

WINNERS OF THE “YOUTH STUDY CONTEST” OF OUR FEDERATION

During the year of 1975, as in previous years, our Federation, the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, again sponsored a Study Contest among our young members who are attending colleges and universities. It has been our policy since the existence of our Federation to help our college students with “student aid.” Four years ago our Board of Directors introduced the “Study Contest” to encourage our students to study and to become acquainted with the

precious heritage of the Fathers and contributions which American Hungarians have made to the historical, scientific and cultural development of America. Our last convention established a special Student Loan Fund. We also support the Youth Camps and conferences of the various denominations. Every year we continue to conduct Hungarian Summer School in our Bethlen Home. We support the Hungarian Language Chairs at four universities. We are spending thousands and thousands of dollars to help our students in their higher education, and we intend to continue this program in the future.

This year the Board of Directors approved the following five winners of the Study Contest:

GILBERT GÉZA BONCSER was born on March 18, 1957. He is living in Painesville, Ohio, presently attending the Borremeo College of Ohio, majoring in Social and Behavior Science. He also plans to attend St. Mary Seminary in Cleveland. He would like to make the priesthood his career. He is presently a lector and part- time sacristan at St. Mary’s. He belongs to Br. No. 3-, Fairport Harbor, Ohio.

JEANETTE MOGOR, was horn on August 17, 1957, resides in East Brunswick, New Jersey and is a

member of Br. 302. She is a freshman at Vassar College, and although her major is as yet undecided, she is considering English as a possibility.

CSILLA KERTÉSZ, was horn in

Passaic, New Jersey on November 5, 1953. She attended Pope Pius XII. High School and graduated from there. She spent the second and third years of high school at the Ungarisches Gymnasium in Germany. She is presently a senior at Rutgers University, where she is working on a Bachelor of Arts in History, a minor in German and a special certificate in Asiatic Studies. She is a member of the Hungarian Scouts.

IMRE D. KOVÁCS was horn in Budapest, Hungary in 1947. In the first two years he lias attended the Princeton Theological Seminary, and Princeton Universitv as full time graduate student. His field is the comparative, structuralist study of religion. During this period of his studies he served as

minister in the bilingual congregation of Philadelphia and Roeb- ling. Recently he is working on the hook on the history and symbolism of the Cross and the Tree of Life. His branch is 302.

CSILLA G. BODNAR was born February 23, 1953 in Passaic, N. J., was graduated from the Pope Pius High School. She received the Bachelor of Art degree in History at the Ramapo College in N. J. She is working for her Masters Degree also in History. She is an active member of the Girl Scouts and the St. Stephen’s Church in Passaic. She is a member of Br. 14.
