Rt. Rev. Árpád George: From the Office of the Secretary At the Labor Day weekend, the meetings of the Presbyters Conference, Ministerial Association, Beth­len Home, Bethlen Freedom Press, Building Com­mittee and our Board of Directors were held in Li- gonier, Pa. The highlights of the resolutions passed were the following: 1) The urgency to strengthen the ecumenical ties of all our churches having affiliation with various denominations; 2) Normalize and stand­ardize the communications and relationships of our churches in the U.S.A. with the Reformed Church in Hungary; 3) Make the Bethlen Freedom Press a separate, self-supporting incorporation; 4) Our pres­ent home for the aged be modernized and extended with a new wing of 30 beds; the dedication of the new building will be held at the 1974 Labor Day weekend; 5) The HRFA will start the sale of its new insurance plans in January 1974. Two new churches were built in 1974. President Beky preached the dedication sermons at both dedi­cation worship services. He used these occasions for promotional work in California and Florida. Col. Stephen E. Balogh of Lakeland, Florida and Rev. Anthony Szabó of the San Fernando Valley, Califor­nia showed not only excellent Hungarian hospitality to our President, but were also instrumental in our Federation’s local promotional work. Our best pro­ducing man in California is Dr. Tibor Köss. His pro­Dr. Tibor Köss duction record was 123% which was improved to 128%. Mrs. Margaret Saltzer also improved her pro­duction from 2% to 23%. The Secretary baptized his first grandchild in a small town west of Chicago and welcomed her as a new Federation member. He held meetings with the local clergy and Section and Branch Managers to promote the Federation’s work in the Greater Chi­cago area. Rev. Dr. Arthur Ludwig’s production record for the Chicago District on November 15th was 100%. Mrs. Elvira Ludwig, manager of our 154 Indiana Harbor branch, held a Hungarian language class for 7 of our members. The persons attending the course sponsored the March 15th community program and will also present a Christmas party for the church members. They also attended the 500th anniversary celebration of the Hungarian printing press and the Petőfi poet anniversary celebration in Chicago. Mrs. Ludwig plans to organize a handcraft course for 1974. The Hungarian Language Class in Indiana Harbor The Secretary also attended the 70th anniversary of the Toledo Hungarian Reformed Church. He participated in the morning anniversary worship service; attended the luncheon given by Mr. Joseph Nagy to the guests of the congregation and the mem­bers of the consistory; extended the Federation’s greetings at the evening banquet and thanked the Toledo congregation for giving the Federation such dedicated persons as former President Dr. Francis Ujlaky, present Vice President Dr. Stephen Szabó, former National Secretary and founding member Stephen Molnár, Miss Betty Balazs and Elizabeth Komaromy Stant, office workers.
