DEBUT FOR DEBS AT CLEVELAND BETHLEN BALL Thirteen young debutantes of Hungarian descent made their debut at the Annual Bethlen Benefit Ball in Cleveland, Ohio held on April 28, 1973. They were a lovely sight to behold in their pastel gowns, carrying orchid nosegays and beneath the gayly decorated streamers in Bethlen Hall. The debs were rehearsed for their presentation by Mrs. Joseph Arnosky. Each was escorted to the front of the hall and presented to the audience between a line formation of the members of The Women’s Guild who held a single rose. After the introductions they then had the first dance with their father after which everyone joined in dancing the traditional csárdás, waltz and polka to the music of The Tokay Orchestra. The Bethlen Benefit Ball is sponsored each year by the Women’s Guild of The First Hungarian Reformed Church and is the largest social event of the year in the Buckeye Road community. The proceeds are sent to our Bethlen Home in Ligonier, Pa. The Superintendent of the Bethlen Home, Rev. Louis Nagy was with us and had a very enjoyable evening renewing old acquaintances and meeting new friends and supporters of the Home. From our Home Office in Washington, D. C. our National Secretary, Rev. Arpad George was here and both participated in our Worship Services on Sunday. The Directors present with their wives were: Dr. Stephen Szabó, Vice President; William Aros, Elmer E. Vargo and William Szuch, Directors and District Manager, László Kernes and Section Manager Joseph Arnosky. We express our heartfelt thanks to all of our members and friends that continue to support the charitable work of our Bethlen Home and again made this an enjoyable evening of fine fellowship.
