Field Force Meetings This is the first year since I am Secretary that I had the opportunity to meet with all our Field Force members in a calendar year. As a matter of fact I met all our District and Section Managers during the months of January and February. It was a pleasure to meet with the persons who are doing the promotional work of the Federation in the 13 states we operate and in Canada. FLORIDA: Reverend John Paul Nagy assured me that he will work wholeheartedly for the Federation in our 75th anniversary year. He was greatly handicapped last year in his work because he broke his leg when he fell painting his kitchen ceiling. We visited the cities of Orlando and Sarasota where he plans to organize new branches. With Reverend Stephen Szőke we visited the 30 unit apartment building built for the Hungarians who plan to live in the Miami area. The solid fire proof building was built by Mr. Gaspar Nagymihaly, a member of our Federation. I met Mr. Zoltán Berky in the parsonage of Reverend Szőke. Last year Mr. Berky opened a gas station which kept him busy. This year he promised to put more time into the Federation work through the branch connected with the congregation in which Reverend Szőke is the pastor. On March 28 retired Col. Stephen E. Balogh will become the pastor of the Lakeland Hungarian Presbyterian Church. Reverend Balogh will represent the Federation in the central Florida area. He spent 10 years with the Federation in the pre and post World War II era. His highly commendable promotional work gained national recognition. Following his services through our Chicago Veterans Office he became the national secretary of the American Hungarian Federation. We look forward toward his 1971 Florida promotional work with great expectation. EASTERN AREA: At our February 13th New Brunswick meeting we congratulated Dr. Antal Viczian for his successful completion of the life and health New York State insurance examination. We added the Passaic-Wharton-Franklin areas to Reverend Ferenczy’s Connecticut District. We welcomed Mr. Sándor Hody and Mr. Andrew Tatar to our Field Force. Mr. Hody will be a new Section Manager in the New Brunswick area and Mr. Tatar will be our new Section Manager in Toronto, Canada. The Trenton-Elizabeth-Newark and Alpha areas will be given to Mr. William Puskas and Mr. Albert St. Miklossy, whose 1970 production deserve recognition and praise. Reverend Imre Bertalan, Board of Director member gave an up to date progress report of our New Brunswick 75th anniversary celebration scheduled for May 1st. He was pleased with the cooperation he received from Mr. Joseph Molnár, fellow Board of Director member, the branch managers and the New Jersey clergymen. It seems that our 75th New Brunswick banquet will be a huge success. Our New Jersey-New York and Connecticut Field Force and Branch Managers meeting is scheduled for the same day in New Brunswick. Mr. Dekany, Section Manager told us that the New York 75th anniversary celebration will be held either on the last Sunday of September, or in the early part of October. Special anniversary services will be held at the 69th and 82nd Street churches by the courtesy of Reverend Gabor Csordás and Reverend Louis Molnár, pastors. The banquet will be held at noon in the fellowship hall of the 82nd Street church. A special program will be arranged in the afternoon by Mr. Dekany with the participation of the New York actors and actresses. Following the program a light dinner and refreshments will be served. Both pastor Csordás and Mr. Dekany are working hard for the success of our New York anniversary celebration. WESTERN AREA: Our Western Area meeting was held on February 20th in the meeting room of our Cleveland branch office. It was attended by our Field Force members from Upper New York, Western Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio States. The Right Reverend Dr. Stephen Szabó, vice president, in his opening prayer commemorated the memory of the late Right Reverend George Kerekes Borshy, former President and Secretary of the Federation. William Aros and Elmer Vargo, Board members, gave detailed reports about our Cleveland 75th anniversary banquet and dance to be held on May 8th in the Bethlen Hall. The price of the ticket will be $5.00. The proceeds of the banquet and special raffle will be donated toward the support of our Bethlen Home which this year celebrates its 50th year golden anniversary. Mr. William Szuch, Board member, presented his report about the anniversary banquet and dance to be held on April 24th in the Pittsburgh area. The banquet ticket will be $6.25. Dr. Arthur Ludwig, Chicago area Section Manager, stated that the Chicago South Side consistory accepted June 26th as the date of the 75th anniversary banquet and unanimously voted to make the Calvin Hall available for the occasion. The Chicago area clergy and branch managers are working hard for its success. It was pointed out that the Detroit 70th anniversary banquet was best attended in 1966. Reverend Tibor Toth, Board member worked very hard for its success. Dr. Tibor Halo, Michigan District Manager, reported that our 75th anniversary celebration in the Greater 14
