Gazéi Vespremi: 45 Years of Fraternalism . . . Mr. Gazéi Vespremi Branch Secretary and Vice-President Mr. Joseph Ringeisen Charter Member Branch 156 was organized in March, 1924. The branch charter was issued on April 1, 1924. The first meeting was attended by ten members in the home of Mr. Stephen Novotnik, Wyandotte, Michigan. Mr. Novotnik was elected branch secretary, the position he held for two years. Mr. George Chenchak served as secretary for the next five years. The branch management was turned again over to Mr. Novotnik who served the Federation faithfully until October 1, 1957, the date of his retirement. Gazel Vespremi of Taylor, Michigan was appointed branch manager. He is serving in this position until date. The 1964 Convention adopted a resolution that branches of less than 25 members merge with other branches. Mr. Vespremi was instrumental in merging branches 315 and 354 of Caro and Carsonville, Michigan with branch 156 in 1964. Although the merged branches are more than 100 miles away from Mr. Vespremi’s home, he visits the members at least once a year and whenever called for special service. The branch membership is 280. Most members reside in the suburbs of Detroit. Some have moved to Ohio, Florida and California but prefer to remain in the branch in which they received good service. Mr. Vespremi keeps personal contact with his members. He visits their homes. He helps in their problems. He is welcomed in every home as a personal friend of the family. This is fraternalism in true spirit and in practice. Mrs. Ann Rushlow Branch President Pfc.
