Board of Elders. He is also active in the Men’s Club of the church and the American-Hungarian Civic Association. His special interest is the Prison Officers’ Hunting Club! Our friend is not just an ordinary sportsman and hunter, because other than going hunting with a rifle, he goes hunting game with a bow and arrow! He bagged one deer this way last winter and went out again with a rifle and shot one that way too. Mr. Bogar’s other hobbies are bowling and photography. We wish him many more pleasant hours of hunting and may he continue to hunt not only wild game but hunt for Federation members also for years to come. JOSEPH GYENES has been associated with our Federation as manager of Branch 250 in Woodbridge, N. J., since March 1956. A plainclothes detective, he has received many citations for his exemplary work on the Woodbridge Township Police Force where he has been employed in several capacities for the past sixteen and one-half years. Mr. Gyenes is a true native of Woodbridge. He was born there, completed his high school there, leaving his home town only periodically to attend special training classes in his field of work at Rutgers University; and continues to live there at 78 Craske Street with his wife Ann and three sons: Bruce 20, Joseph 15, and Gregory 14. Our able co-worker holds membership in the Hungarian Reformed Church in Woodbridge and also belongs to the local Hungarian American Citizens Club. His hobbies are vegetable and flower gardening. For recreation he coaches baseball and basketball teams in the Township Recreation Leagues. We would like to add personally that it is always a pleasure to receive Mr. Gyenes’ applications in the Home Office because we can depend upon the neatness and accuracy of his work. activities. She has, on many occasions, assumed branch duties when called upon to do so. The Benedeks have three children, Joseph, Jr., Robert, and Yolanda, and four grandchildren from the 3 families. Mr. Benedek’s hobbies, outside of watching his grandchildren grow, are reading and music (he plays the violin!) His favorite sport is baseball. Mr. and Mrs. Benedek live at 2429 E. 124th Street in Cleveland. DANIEL VIZSOLYÉ our Buffalo Section Manager, lives with his family of women — wife, Susanne and two daughters, Susanne 16 and Agnes 15, at 144 Vandervort Street, North Tonawanda, N. Y. Dr. Vizsolyi who was born in Hejopapi, Borsod County, completed his elementary schools there and went on to graduate from the Gymnasium in Miskolc. Although Dr. Vizsolyi has been employed as payroll clerk at the Bethlehem Steel Co. for the past 17 years, his educational background claims him to be not only an agriculturist, but also an economist, having received his doctorate in social economics from the University of Budapest. After coming to the United States Dr. Vizsolyi enrolled and completed a course in general and cost accounting at the University of Buffalo. A member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tonawanda, Dr. Vizsolyi is also a member of the Board of Directors of the American-Hungarian Federation and holds offices in a number of other Hungarian organizations in Buffalo. His hobbies are photography, gardening and music, having excellent assistance in the latter from his wife, a graduate of the Munich Academy of Music and daughters, one of whom is a violinst and the other a pianist. Our able section manager has been managing Branches No. 50, 72 and 225 since 1964. JOSEPH BENEDEK, our Western Territory Supervisor, known as “Joe” to his host of friends, was born in Tisza Agtelek in Szabolcs County, Hungary. After attending the Sárospatak Gymnasium for two years and while still in his “teens” he came to the United States where he continued his education in business school. He settled in Warren, Ohio, worked in the local steel mill and later opened a restaurant. While in Warren, Mr. Benedek helped organize the Hungarian Presbyterian Church, was an active member of the Consistory and became Chief Elder. Mr. Benedek joined our Federation in 1939 and developed a great interest in the field of insurance. Relocating in Cleveland, and deciding to devote all his time to insurance work, Mr. Benedek was given the position of District Manager of the Ohio District and in 1957 was promoted to Supervisor of the Western Territory, which embraces the — Mining, the Ohio, Detroit and Chicago Districts to Peoria and Milwaukee, Wis. Mrs. Benedek shares her husband’s interest in his work, being an enthusiastic booster of our Federation’s fraternal JOHN GIBNER, Branch Manager of Branch No. 74 in Muskegon, Michigan, was born in Muskegon Heights on August 23, 1916. After graduating from high school he went to work for the Kaydon Engineering corporation as gagemaker and has been employed there for the past 25 years. At heart Mr. Gibner is a wood-worker and home builder, having built a number of homes including his own “dream house”. A man of many interests he is also Finance Director of the Kaydon Employees Credit Union, Treasurer of the Kaydon Aid Association and a branch manager of our Federation. When he has time to spare Mr. Gibner goes bowling. During his annual vacation periods he and Mrs. Gibner take long motor trips throughout the United States. The Gibners, who are members of the local Reformed Church, have one married daughter, Carol. A man with the personality of John Gibner gets things done and we are fortunate to have him associated with our Federation. 8
