FRATERNITY 7 and enjoying good livelihood, to my colleagues and the many members and friends for their co-operation and friendship. As we come to the close of our 70th anniversary year, when our nationwide celebrations and membership drives are but events in our history, let us reflect for a moment and think of the things we have done well . . . and of those things we could have done better! What chances had we missed during the year? How can we put to use the vast experiences of our past to make our future more successful? We must always remember that the LIFE LINE of our Federation, as with all other insurance organizations, is in the field of our field- men, carrying out the actual promotional and organizational work under the direction of the Secretary. It is the same today as it was 30 years ago. Then, we had only six District Managers representing us, while today we have 27 full- and part-time workers representing our work in the United States and in three provinces of Canada, plus our many branch managers and agents. The road might be tougher and more competitive in our space age than it was 30 years ago, but WITH GOOD MEN IN THE FIELD, WE CAN SURMOUNT ANY OBSTACLE AND COMPETITION. If we call ourselves good, we must show good results and bring in the required production individually as well as collectively. What are some of the ways in which we can do this? What are some of the things we must do? 1. We must not only know all about our insurance plans, but we must make them known to the public through constant prospecting! 2. We must know our families and prospects so that we can sell them the plan of insurance protection that will best serve their needs! 3. We must follow up our initial contacts — at least weekly! 4. We must plan to call on at least four new families each week and to keep in touch with them until they become our members! 5. We must be close at hand to serve our members, especially when tragedy strikes — to take care of claims and changes in beneficiaries, as may be needed. We must give good service to our members! 6. We must recanvass all of our members at least once every year. This helps us become better acquainted with individuals and families as well. It will ultimately bring more business! 7. We must give our best efforts to our Federation, because by giving it, we not only make it grow and prosper, but we increase our own incomes! With persistence, perseverance and conscientious effort, nothing is impossible! All we have to do is to THINK POSITIVELY . . . DO OUR BEST, AND KEEP AT IT! As we bid farewell to the past 70 years and start the next new year of 1967, let us plan ahead, and keeping our goal in mind, let us work toward it with the obligating awareness that THIS IS OUR FEDERATION ... ITS BANNER IS IN OUR HANDS . . . LET US CARRY IT HIGH ALL THROUGH THE COMING YEAR! THE HIGHER OUR BANNER FLIES, THE GREATER OUR REWARDS WILL BE!
