Fraternity-Testvériség, 1966 (44. évfolyam, 1-12. szám)

4 FRATERNITY HAS BEEN MISSING FROM OUR EFFORTS AND PAST DELIBERATIONS to make the union we were seeking a reality. THE SPIRIT THAT BELIEVES, LOVES, CREATES AND HELPS HAS BEEN NEEDED IN OUR SEARCH FOR UNION and it can be only this kind of spirit that can solve our mutual problems, make our dreams come true, insure the continued progress, growth and future of our churches and our Federation, and make our life together brighter and happier. Year after year God has called together the leaders of our great Hungarian Reformed family of America and Canada — ministers, elders and leaders of our church and institutional life to receive this spirit and give it expression. He calls us again this year to the Bethlen Home for this purpose. The program of the conference and various workshops is given on the following pages. We still have many problems and plans to be discussed and solved: the question of church union; the merger of the periodicals of our churches and Federation; the Hungarian Reformed Printing Shop in Ligonier; the shortage of ministers and the filling of vacant pulpits; the need for a youth camp and retreat center; the WAYS AND MEANS TOWARD CLOSER COOPERATION BETWEEN OUR CHURCHES AND OUR FEDERATION; higher ministerial pensions with more and better insurance ... In what spirit shall we deal with these plans and problems ? It was with the help of the HOLY SPIRIT and the sincere and joint effort of us all that our plans were realized and problems solved in the past. It can be done again, if we but put our trust in God ... if we join forces in the blessed work for common goals and aims. Our 1966 meetings can result in works that may be pleasing to God and man; they can irgike history, if we but let the Holy Spirit of God work in and among us. It will happen through faith, sincere work and fervent prayer if we but let the spirit of love, service and sacrifice take hold of our lives. Then these words of the Scriptures will come true: “They were all with one accord in one place . . . and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit . . . ; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams . . . And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved . . WOULD THAT IT COULD BE SO IN LIGONIER!
