8 FRATERNITY caution, better sales tactics (recommending certificate changes) and ever more courteous service on the part of our workers. For the future, I have made it a duty of our fieldmen to use the combined list prepared by the Controller’s and Secretary’s departments to good advantage by contacting the listed holders of paid-up and extended contracts and with good salesmanship try to induce them to change those to active certificates. After the facts, evaluation and the future plans presented of the American side of our working field, let me report on the progress of our work in our Canadian territory. Toronto and vicinity is our first district, which includes Oshawa, Kitchener, Galt, Guelph, London, Mt. Brydges and vicinity. Our second very good section is the Hamilton, Dundas, Burlington and St. Catherine Section. Our third section is Delhi, Brantford, Tilsonburg, Simcoe, Woodstock, Ingersoll and vicinity. Ontario, Welland, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, Port Colborne and vicinity make up our fourth section, where the position of manager is vacant at the present time, since the first man we tried did not work out in this area. Our fifth section is the newest one in Montreal and vicinity and Ottawa. Finally, our sixth section is in Windsor, where we are looking for a section man. Where there are no permanent section workers, the local branch managers are carrying on the organizational work with the aid of one of our supervisors, who visits them at least once monthly. We started numbering our Canadian branches with the number 400, since our American branches are numbered up to 399. Our present branches in Canada are the following: 400 Toronto, 401 Hamilton, 402 Welland, 403 Delhi, 404 Windsor, 405 Hamilton Merged, 406 Brantford, 407 Montreal, 408 Niagara—Port Colborne. As described above, we established a good foundation in the province of Ontario. After the initial difficulties, we hope to carry on more easily with our trained and possibly enlarged personnel. Slowly we have started to work in Montreal and Quebec, and even if we have difficulties in the beginning, we expect good results in that large Hungarian- populated city. This year we will start out in the third province of British Columbia, where we also hold a permit to operate and where we wish to combine the promotional and organizational work. As a result of the intensive work we have done thus far and the detailed plans we have carried out to date, a special opportunity is given us for great gains during our 70th Anniversary Year. Our workers and friends are showing much enthusiasm, and great possibilities exist in both countries. We are doing our best to take advantage of these possibilities and request the assistance of our Supreme Council members to make our celebration successful in their respective districts. The Council members can be of great help to us in organizing the anniversary festivities, keeping a watchful eye on promotional work and membership drives, and encouraging our fieldmen in their work. The cooperation of both American and Canadian congregations and pastors with our field force was praiseworthy during the past year. I have never experienced finer evidence of good-will, understanding and the
