FRATERNITY 5 KILLED IN VIET NAM Word that Marine Pfc. Stephen George Balazy, age 20, was killed in action in Viet Nam was received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Balazy of Massena, New York. “I deeply regret to confirm that your son, Private First Class Stephen George Balazy, died September 12, 1.965, in the vicinity of Danang, Republic of Viet Nam”, the telegram read in part, and concluded that the body will be shipped for burial to Massena. The tragic message arrived on his mother’s birthday. An only child, Pfc. Balazy was a graduate of the Class of 1963, Massena Central High School, where he was a member of the Honor Society. He was an avid reader . . . from Shakespeare to books on Japan. He had completed a year at Clarkson College of Technology when he enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 1, 1964. Marine Pfc. Stephen G. Balazy of Branch 214 in Massena, New York, is the second young member of our Federation who made the supreme sacrifice for his country in the Viet Nam conflict. He was the only grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Menyhért Balazs. The grandfather is one of the “grand old men” of our Federation and has been manager of Branch 214 for almost forty years. The national officers, as well as the fieldmen, all of whom hold the beareaved family in high esteem, express their heartfelt sympathy to them. We pray for God’s comforting grace upon their lives. “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live . . .” (John XI:25.) Pfc. Stephen G. Balazy With his Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Menyhért Balazs
