FRATERNITY 5 20. The Convention heard the report of the Medical Director which was delivered in Hungarian. After the Medical Director answered a question about the trend in the mortality rate and another about deaths among children up to two weeks old, THE CONVENTION ACCEPTED THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR’S REPORT AS A WHOLE AND REFERRED IT TO THE RESPECTIVE COMMITTEE FOR FURTHER DISCUSSION. 21. The President welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hegedűs, visiting guests from Crescent, Ohio. 22. The Convention heard the report of the Superintendent of the Bethlen Home which was delivered in Hungarian. THE CONVENTION ACCEPTED THE SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT AS A WHOLE AND REFERRED IT TO THE RESPECTIVE COMMITTEE FOR FURTHER DISCUSSION. 23. After a recess of twenty minutes, Rev. Parragh, chairman of the special committee to investigate the two New Jersey mandates under petition, presented the committee’s recommendation. At the request of President Borshy, who expressed his wish to speak on this matter, Vice President Veszprémi occupied the chair at 5:05. In the first case, the special committee’s recommendation was to accredit Mr. Károly Kovács in strict observance of Paragraph 14 of the By-Laws. Upon request, Rev. Bertalan was granted the privilege of the floor. After repeated interruptions and after remarks by Rev. Anthony Szabó (Los Angeles) and Judge Fiók, several motions were introduced. President Borshy moved to accept both Mr. Károly Kovács and Rev. Bertalan as delegates. Vice President Dr. Szabó amended this motion by suggesting to seat both but to give the power to vote to Mr. Károly Kovács only. Judge Fiók clarified the question of eligibility of the two, should Dr. Szabó’s amended motion be adopted. Upon several remarks (Dr. Béky, Rev. Szathmáry, Mr. Stephen Varga, Mr. Alexander Csik, Mr. John Nagy, Mr. Stephen Syposs) THE CONVENTION, BY SEPARATE VOTES, RECOGNIZED MR. KÁROLY KOVÁCS AS AN OFFICIALLY ACCREDITED DELEGATE, WHILE REV. BERTALAN WAS ACCEPTED AS A GUEST WITH THE RIGHT OF PARTICIPATION. 24. Rev. Parragh presented the special committee’s report and recommendation in the second case to the effect that Mrs. Putnoky be seated as an official delegate and the Rev. Ábrahám as a guest with the right of participation. Upon request, Rev. Ábrahám was granted the privilege of the floor. THE CONVENTION, BY SEPARATE VOTES, RECOGNIZED MRS. PUTNOKY AS AN OFFICIALLY ACCREDITED DELEGATE, WHILE REV. ÁBRAHÁM WAS ACCEPTED AS A GUEST WITH THE RIGHT OF PARTICIPATION. 25. President Borshy returned to the chair at 5:58 P. M. He called the Supreme Council for a brief meeting for 9:15 A. M. Tuesday, June 2, and announced that the plenary session will begin at 9:30 A. M.
