FRATERNITY 11 JOSEPH KECSKEMETHY: ITEMS OF INTEREST A NEW PROFESSOR AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY The Nanassy name is well known and greatly respected in the United States, especially in our Hungarian Reformed Church life. The first person bearing this name among us was the late and beloved Dr. Louis Nánássy, one of our pioneer pastors and for 16 years superintendent of our Bethlen Home. The Nanassy name, well know in church life, now continues to shine in the field of education through a nephew, about whom we are happy to report to our readers the following good news: Dr. Louis C. Nanassy, professor of business education at Montclair (N. J.) State College, has been granted a one-year leave of absence to accept a visiting professorship at Teachers College, Columbia University, in New York, beginning February 1. He will be in charge of Columbia’s department of business education during the Spring, Summer and Fall sessions while the chairman is on sabbatical leave. A graduate of Indiana (Pa.) State Teachers College, Dr. Nanassy received his M. A. degree from Ohio State University, took additional work at Harvard University, and earned his doctor’s degree at Columbia University. He taught for ten years in high schools of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and eleven years at Paterson (N. J.) State College, prior to joining the Montclair faculty in 1957. Dr. Nanassy has been summer session visiting professor teaching graduate courses in business education at Western Michigan University, New Mexico Highlands University, Pennsylvania State University, University of Vermont, University of Southern California, University of Denver and Brigham Young University. An author and co-author of several books, Dr. Nanassy has also contributed to professional journals, has been associate editor of two American Business Education Year Books, has served as editor of the New Jersey Business Education Observer, and has been editor of the Business Education Index for the past fifteen years. He is a member of seven national honorary fraternities, and has held offices in numerous professional associations. It is gratifying to know that this distinguished Hungarian has been a member of our Federation for more than thirty years. Congratulations, Professor! We are proud of you!
