Volume XL SEPTEMBER 1962 Number 9 “A DAY TO REMEMBER” There were names like Szabó, who came from Cleveland, like Molnár from Jersey City, Toth from Michigan, Varga from Illinois. Americans all, who came to a town called Ligonier in the State of Pennsylvania to pay tribute and together to be proud of their Hungarian Heritage. These people came to America from cities named Budapest, Debreczen and Sárospatak, and from Szatmar, Veszprém and Vas, counties of Hungary. This day, together, they would witness the dedication of a new wing to the Bethlen Home for the Aged. They came here today, because the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America had recognized the need to provide a place where our senior citizens could obtain dignity, serenity and peace of mind. The chapel was crowded and hundreds more stood outside, and the surrounding hills rang with hymns of praise, and their hearts swelled as they listened to our esteemed President, The Right Reverend George E. K. Borshy, as he reminded them where they came from and who they were. His words, that “the doors of the Bethlen Home were open to all”, regardless of church affiliation, “throbbed with the Spirit which is America.” After the service, and while enjoying the buffet supper and meeting old friends once again, I was reminded of our motto: “If God Be With Us, Who Shall Be Against Us.” For on this day one would know that surely he was indeed with us. It was that kind of a day -—- “A Day To Remember.” GAZEL VESPREMY, Vice President
