FRATERNITY 5 RESOLVED, That the equivalent of two months’ dues be allowed during the year 1962 on the Juvenile Department’s so-called term certificates when paid for one year in advance; That a donation of $25,000 be given to the building fund of the Bethlen Home toward the building expenses of the new Old People’s Home now under construction. FIFTH DAY — APRIL 13 Emery Király presented the report of the Administrative Committee, and upon its recommendation the Supreme Council RESOLVED, That a grant of $1,000 be given in support of the Hungarian Studies Foundation at Rutger’s University for 1962; That the dedication of the Old People’s Home of the Bethlen Home, now under construction, be held on the afternoon of Labor Day, September 3, and that the Supreme Council’s fall meeting be tentatively set for September 5; That the Investment Committee sell the residential portion of the land purchased as the site for the new Home Office, with the provision that the prevailing land values of that area be taken into consideration so that the unit sale price of each square foot be more than $1.00; That the President be extended a unanimous vote of thanks for his exceptional work during 1961, demonstrated in the interest of the Federation and our American-Hungarian society, and released him from all responsibilities for the past year. The Supreme Council dealt at length with both the circular and newspaper attacks against the President, thereby endangering the repu­tation and name of the Federation. After each member of the Supreme Council voiced his personal opinion regarding this situation, the Supreme Council unanimously extended its vote of confidence to the President. The Legal Counsellor, upon request, stated that those circulars which he had read bear all the ear-marks of slander against the person of the President and against the Federation, and, according to the laws of the United States, legal action could be instituted. After hearing the legal opinion, the Supreme Council RESOLVED, That satisfaction be demanded from the members of the Mil­waukee, Wisconsin, church and signers of the circular for slander made against the President and the Federation; That in the event complete and acceptable amends are not forthcoming, the officers bring immediate legal action against the slanderers.
