16 FRATERNITY The Convention unanimously concurred with the President’s request. 67. The recommendations of the Committee concerning a subcommittee to be sent to Washington in case a Convention is to be held in another place than Washington, for the examination of bonds and stocks and other valuable records and documents, and concerning the increase of the sum authorized for floral contributions from $7.50 to $10 were rejected by the Convention. 68. The recommendation of the Committee concerning the increase of the branch collectors’ fees was, in concurrence with the resolution concerning a similar recommendation of the Administrative Committee referred to the Supreme Council. 69. The Committee’s recommendation that the salary of the four supreme officers to be $10,000 per year while the honorarium of the vice presidents and directors to be $400 per year was discussed at considerable length, and after explanatory remarks by Mr. Zeitlin, was amended by a motion of Dr. Böttykös, seconded by Rev. Ladányi, that the four supreme officers’ salary be fixed at $ 12,000 per year, the honorarium of the three vice presidents at $600, and of the rest of the directors at $500 per year. The motion for a secret ballot was defeated, and the amended recommendation was adopted by the Convention by a unanimous vote of 64. 70. The Convention was recessed by the President at 4:40 P. M. for 15 minutes. 71. The Convention was reconvened by the President at 5 P. M. with hymn singing. 72. The President, after expressing his appreciation to all who furthered the administration of the Federation during the past four years, entertained a motion to release the Supreme Council from its responsibilities. A motion to this effect was duly made and seconded, and the Convention adopted the recommendation unanimously. 73. Rev. Dezső Ábrahám, secretary of the Committee on Bethlen Home, presented the Committee’s report, which the Convention accepted unanimously. (Exhibit “R”.) 74. In compliance with Resolution No. 10 of the first day, the Convention proceeded to elect a Temporary Chairman to conduct the elections. Nominated were Rev. Antal Szabó (declined), Rev. Matthias Daróczy (declined), Rev. Imre Bertalan (declined) and Rev. Árpád Beretz, who was unanimously elected by the Convention as the Temporary Chairman.
