“MAGNA CUM LAUDE”

Robert J. Banyai, son of Mr. Andrew Banyai and the late Mrs. Banyai, of 169 South Main Street, South Norwalk, Connecticut, a member of our Branch No. 52 there, received the degree of bachelor of social science, magna cum laude, at the graduation exercises of the Fairfield University of Saint Robert Bellarmine. The exercises were held at the Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Mr. Banyai was the salutatorian for his class. —

Besides his degree he also received the awards in history and theology, and was second in his curriculum. His major course of study in college was history with a minor in English literature. He was also a member of the Senior Class Advisory Board; the St. Thomas Acquinas Academy; the St. Cecilia Academy, which he was instrumental in founding and of which he was an officer. He served on the editorial staff of New Frontiers, a literary publication of the University; and the Manor, the senior class year book.

Earlier this year Mr. Banyai was received as a Postulant for Holy Orders by the Rt. Rev. James DeWolfe, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island. After completing his course in one of the Episcopal seminaries, he will enter the priesthood of that Church. At present he is a Lay Reader in the Parish of Trinity Church in South Norwalk, where he assists the Rector and is in charge of the Young People’s Fellowship and the altar boys.
