14 FRATERNITY . . AROUSED THE ADMIRATION OF ALL FREE MEN” Dear Mr. Borshy: Thank you for your telegram about the heroic resistance of the people of Hungary against Soviet oppression. The United States took the initiative in bringing this matter before the United Nations. Enclosed are copies of statements I have made in the Security Council and the emergency session of the General Assembly, and a copy of the two United States resolutions on this subject which the Assembly adopted by votes of 50 to 8 and 53 to 9. The United States will continue to do everything in its power to keep faith with the Hungarian people. Their historic struggle has aroused the admiration of all free men. Your kind words are a source of real encouragement. Sincerely yours, HENRY CABOT LODGE, Jr. United States Representative to the United Nations
