TESTVÉRISÉG 21 C) REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON FINANCES 72. On behalf of the Committee, Alexander Daroczy, Secretary, reported that they carefully examined the books, certificates and files of the offices of the Treas­urer and of the Auditor, as well as the reports of the examinations of the State Insurance Departments, the bank, books of the checking accounts and savings de­posits, the bank statements; furthermore, the legal cer­tificates of the bonds and valuable papers, especially the documents of the loans on church real estate properties, the legal proofs of the stocks and all the other items of assets, and resolved that all these are in the most perfect order. On this basis, he reported that Emery Király, Treasurer, and Edmund Vasvary, Auditor, fulfilled their duties prescribed in the By-Laws with exemplary exactitude, professional knowledge and conscientiously, and therefore recommended that they would be released from their responsibilities. The Convention accepted the detailed report with joyful satisfaction, expressed its fullest recognition to Emery Király, Treasurer, and Edmund Vasvary, Auditor, and voted to release them from their re­sponsibilities. 73. The Committee, on the basis of the examinations executed and information received, resolved, that our Federation is strong, capable to develop; its assets dur­ing the past four years were augmented with $1,750,791, and the amount represented by its certificates is four and a half million dollars higher. The Committee re­ported on the condition of the different funds, on the sale of the old Kossuth Building, and in connection with overtures received, presented its resolutions. The Convention discussed the report of the Com­mittee in detail and on its resolutions took the following actions: 74. The Supreme Council should take action upon the matter of the dividends whenever they will become feasible. 75. The Convention considers the work of the Ameri­can Hungarian Federation as necessary, important and indispensable, and, as it did in the past, de­sires to support it, and for its purposes will ap­propriate again for the next four years one cent per member each month, to be paid from the treasury of the Federation. 76. Instructed the Supreme Council to study the mat­ter of securing accident insurance for the local branch managers. 77. Instructed the Supreme Council to take steps for the erection of the Ady statue in the Cleveland Cultural Garden; however, its expenses should not exceed $3,000. 78. Ordered the payment of $250.00 for the publication of a new volume of poems by Ladislaus Szabó, and also $250.00 for 100 copies of the Kossuth book by Endre Sebestyen. 79. Wherever it is not contrary to the laws of the states, on children’s certificates, in case of death, the full amount of insurance may be paid. 80. At funerals of members, the price of the wreath donated by the Federation should not be more than $7.50. 81. The commission for new certificates was increased to $2.40 for each $1,000.00 of insurance, and the deduction from the monthly fees by the branch managers was increased from 10 cents to 12 cents after each certificate (except the 25 cent policies). 82. The President presented the list of those branch managers whose citation was recommended by the Su­preme Council, granting a bronze medal to those who served for 15 years, a silver medal to those who served 20 years, and a gold medal to those who served 25 years. Joseph Hegedűs, Belmont, Ohio John Koran, Youngstown, Ohio Valentine Szabó, Warren, Ohio Andrew Gyure, Whiting, Ind. Joseph Molnár, Trenton, N. J. Bronze medals were also given to three district managers: Gustave Kovács, of Cleveland, Ohio; Paul Szentmiklossy, of New Jersey, and Michael B. Tusai, of Pittsburgh, for their efficient service. He especially called attention to the worthy labor of Andrew Daruka, delegate, who for 42 years, and of Frank Szarka, "delegate, who for 45 years served the Federation, who also received gold medals. The members of the Convention sang a joyful hymn of gratitude while the President distributed the medals. 83. At noon, the President recessed the Convention, whose members and also separately the group of re­warded branch and district workers were photographed during the noon recess. 84. After the luncheon recess the President opened the Convention and cordially greeted Joseph Dula, our city manager in Cleveland, O., and also Stephen Papmeder, pastor of Vintondale, Pa. 85. In the name of those who received the medals of merit, Frank Szarka expressed their thanks to the Con­vention and urged every worker of the Federation to preserve our precious heritage. Approved. 86. Stephen E. Balogh, delegate, submitted in the name of the Committee on Declarations the text of our mes­sage to the Hungarians in America: The 1952 Convention of The Hungarian Re­formed Federation of America, held in Ligonier, Pa., salutes with fraternal and cordial greetings the church, fraternal, patriotic, press and civic or­ganizations, living and conducting their activities on the territory of the United States. Our Federa­tion, serving and building the spiritual, material, social and charitable public welfare of the Hun­garians in America for almost six decades, wishes to cooperate in the future also with all commu­nities living in similar convictions with us, for the inner strength of America, for the peace of the
