TESTVÉRISÉG 11 sales talk in the presence of both parents. I feel it keeps my persistency high to have both parents understand what they have on their children. Most people think of insurance as death insurance. I try to show them that it is really life insurance. Whenever possible, I collect quarterly, semi-annual or annual rates on applications. In my field I am faced with strikes and layoffs, so I have to prepare for this. I try to show the member the advantages of paying in advance. Most parents prefer paying more than a single rate at a time, if possible. I try to interest members who pay monthly to start a bank for the youngsters — any jar or piggy bank type. I advise them to put their spare change away for a time when they can pay rates well in advance. This idea works well in most cases. Keeps in Coniact With Family I do most of my collecting personally. It keeps me in contact with the family, opens the door to new prospects, and enables me to service the certificates held by the family. Keeping in touch also makes it possible to transfer those junior members to adult when the junior comes of age and to sell him an increase when he becomes employed. Working with young people is an enjoyable part of my job and so I can repeat that we have the heart on our side; along with all other societies in the National Fraternal Congress, we have a very fine slogan, “Insurance With a Heart”, and I use this slogan every day in my selling.
