OCTOBER, 1943 (Dur jSttmigtlj tn ©rouble “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid’’. These words of Jesus spoken at a time when the world he was living in was full of trouble and conflict, should bring hope and courage to our hearts today. Confusion and fear prevail in the world and it is hard for us not to be overwhelmed by them. Our sense of values determines the extent to which we let present day issues confuse us. Jesus had a set of values which neither fear nor confusio* could shake, for he understood that the things on which he set a high value could not be affected by the tumult or the turmoil. He had an unshakeable belief in the ultimate triumph of the Kingdom of God and he was ready to die, if need be, to hasten the coming of that Kingdom. His Father reigned though the world might be full of chaos, so he spoke peace to his disciples and still speaks to us after many centuries, if we will but listen to his message of strength and courage.
