TÁROGATÓ A Canadian Magyar Monthly for the enlightenment and entertainment of Hungarians, edited by Dr. A. Czakó, published by The United Church of Canada. Sixth year, No. 10. April, 1944. CONTENTS. Count Michael Károlyi, sometime President of the Hungarian Republic, sent an important message to the Hungarians who live in the old country. We have reproduced some parts of it in our introductory article. — We quote several excerpts from Professor Morgan’s most important book: The Permanent War. We do this in order to propagate it among Hungarians. — The article on the Calendar tells us what we ought to know about years, months and days; tells about the reforms of the Calendar both the Julian and Gregorian, and indicates what the next reform may be. — Under the title: Thoughts About Alexander Finta’s Portrait, Mrs. Bela Molnár of Pritchard, B.C., a sincere warrior of the democratic movement among the Hungarians in Canada, tells her opinion of one of the leaders of reactionary Hungarians in Canada. In connection with this we publish the portrait of our friend and regular contributor, Alexander Finta. There is also a poem by him in this issue. — We have reprinted three letters because two of them are important and concern the future of Hungarians, the third, however, is a good self-characterisation of a man who is against democracy. We conclude this issue as usual with the Editor’s Notes to The Tragedy of Man. * * * The war is not yet over. The last stages of it need all our efforts. Let us show our willingness to sacrifice by doing our utmost for the sake of freedom and humanity. ★ ★ ★ GOD 5.4 VE THE KING.
