Szemészet Supplementum I. Patients and method: Thirteen eyes with keratoconus of twelve patients were treated. Their mean age was 30.38 years at the time of the treatment. All interventions were performed in the same way. Mean follow-up time was 12.07 months. Results: Uncorrected visual acuity improved in nine cases (69%) that regarding all the thirteen cases means 0.187 average improvement. Best corrected visual acuity improved in eleven cases (85%) that regarding all the thirteen cases corresponds to 0.23 average improvement. Refraction changed in all cases, in eleven cases it improved. Spherical equivalent showed an average decrease of 2.17 D. After one year mild central haze in three cases and fine striae in one case were seen on the cornea, while in the rest of the cases it was clear. Conclusion: On the basis of one year’s results the treatment proved to be safe and effective. The primary aim of the intervention is not the improvement of visual acuity and/or the reduction of refractive error, but to prevent further progression of the disease. In spite of this, improvement occured both in visual acuity and in refraction in the majority of our cases. A szövettani vizsgálat Malherbe-tumor jelenlétét igazolta. Occurence of Malherbe’s tumor in our patients - case report Márta Hódos,1 Zoltán Sohajda,1 Ilona Kovács2 Kenézy Hospital, Debrecen, Ophthalmology,' Pathology2 Malherbe's tumor or pilomatrixoma is a kind of calcifying epithelioma. This benign tumor that doesn’t show relapse, occurs mostly in young adult- or childhood. Its ophthalmologic occurrence is extremely rare. Almost 100% of diagnoses of the published cases were provided by subsequently performed histological examinations. In the current case a mass appearing to be cystosus of a size of a bean with yellowish liguid inside, full of sanguis, growing rapidly for a month on the left upper eyelid of a 50-year-old female patient was removed. Histological examination revealed the manifestation of Malherbe's tumor. Three weeks after the operation a relapse of a size of a pinhead appeared at the nasalis end of the scar which was removed. Since then the patient’s symptoms and complaints have ceased. Előadáskivonatok / Abstracts
