Oslo, Norway Special Initiatives He was the founding member of the International Society for Dakryology: 1984 Started and since then continues the Ruthenium applicator treatment of intraocular tumors in Hungary (his is still the only center for such treatments in Hungary): 1986 Organized (together with F.J. Holly) the 1st Meeting of the International Society of Dakryology in Budapest, Hungary: 987 Created and since then and runs a Lions Cornea Bank at the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Debrecen, Hungary: 1994 Created and since then runs the Hungarian Keratoplasty Register (a national corneal transplantation database): 1992 Created the second excimer laser center in Hungary which started LASIK in Hungary: 1996 Created a Lions Eye Institute to treat eye patients coming from abroad to Hungary: 1997 Was the founder and is the President of the InnoTears Ltd., a “spin off” company that has several inventions, that has registered 3 patents (a diagnosic kit for the determination of urokinase levels in tears, a urokinase containing eyedrop for the replenishment of the missing urokinase from the tears of patients following PRK, and a PA-inhibitor containing eyedrop).
