Ezek a szövődmények felhívják a figyelmet arra, hogy az implantátum, a cső, a csövet fedő sclera és a conjunctivaseb gondos rögzítésén és zárásán kívül a sebgyógyulási hajlamot és az otthoni ápolási körülményeket is szem előtt kell tartani, amikor csarnokvíz-elvezető implantátum beültetéséről és a posztoperatív kontrollok gyakoriságáról döntünk. Összefoglalva megállapítható, hogy az Ahmed S-2 implantátum beültetése 6-27 hónapos követést alapul véve sikeres beavatkozásnak bizonyult a gyógyszeres kezeléssel uralhatatlan, különösen magas szemnyomású, korábban többször operált és több sikertelen szemnyomáscsökkentő műtéten is átesett glaucomás szemeken. Ez az eredmény arra utal, hogy indokolt esetben, a hasznavehető látás megőrzése érdekében kevésbé súlyos állapotú glaucomás szemeken is célszerű elvégezni e beavatkozást.
