2. The visual effort shows changes during the wholelife, even in case of a normal visual system and psycho-physiological condition of the human body. According to present data the visual effort improves till the age 20 to 24. This can be regarded as the best period of performance, which lasts approximately till the age of 40. The period between 40 and 44 is a phase which displays a regressive trend, which is followed by the period of decline. 3. The visual effort depends on the optico-anatomic-physiologic condition of the eye and on the general psycho-physiological state of the organism (perception, attentiveness, concentration, cogitation and motivation etc.) as well as on the actual condition and the stage of development of the parts of the central nervous system which direct the functions of the visual organ. 171
