L. Galli, E. В о z s ó : The value of cryoextraction in operations for cataract.

The authors performed 150 operations for cataract with Duck’s carbon dioxideexpansion cryoextractor. With intracapsular extraction in 89 per cent of the cases, and with posterior removal of the capsule in 7 per cent, they achieved capsular extraction in 96 per cent. Before fixing the cryoextractor, they made also zonuloysis. The authors compare the cryoextraction results of their own and those to be found in world literature with the results achieved by traditional method of operation and they come to the conclusion that, in general, cryoextraction assures a higher percentage of intracapsular extraction, especially in the case of young patients, and with tumescent cataract. The number of complications is not higher than that found with the traditional extraction. The indication for total iridectomy is reduced.

L. Galli und E. В о z s ó : Über den Wert der Kryoextraktion in Staroperationen.

Mit dem Kohlendioxid-Expansionskryoextraktor nach Duch wurden 150 Kataraktafälle operiert. Mit 89% intrakapsulären Extraktionen und mit in 7% durchgeführtem nachträglichem Kapselentfernen wurde in 96% Kapselextraktion erzielt. Vor dem Anbringen des Kryoextraktors wurde mit 2 ringförmigen Instrumenten auch äussere Zonulolyse unternommen. Die eigenen und die in der Weltliteratur mitgeteilten Kryoextraktionsergebnisse wurden mit den Resultaten der traditionellen Operationen in Vergleich gestellt und es war festzustellen, dass mit der Kryoextraktion im allgemeinen, vor allem bei jüngeren Personen und im Falle quellender Linsen, in höherer Prozentzahl intrakapsuläre Extraktion erzielt werden kann. Die Häufigkeit der Komplikationen ist nicht grösser als im Falle der traditionellen Extraktion. Das Indikationsgediet der Durchführung einer totalen Iridektomie hat sich eingeengt.
