private management. The structure, working, and personal network of the administration are analyzed more narrowly within the estate apparatus and the county government. During the fifty years of the administration’s existence, almost 7000 cases passed through the hands of the estate employees. Its centers were Pest and Hódmezővásárhely. The managerial network of the district attorney of Vásárhely and the Károlyi brothers, whose lands had been divided, determined the key positions of the common administrative apparatus, with the joint estates on the Great Plain being in the charge of the district officials’ seat at Vásárhely. In order to develop a more detailed view of the bureaucracy of the joint administration, further analysis is needed, for the available evidence only allows an indication of the main tendencies and outlining of the major directions of the research.
